We came here for lunch because we saw that they have a nice menu and the prices looked pretty reasonable. Plus, they have a baked potato for a side, and we LOVE baked potatoes. We went inside and were invited to sit wherever we wanted. Courtney was our server, and she was very attentive and friendly. I got the spunky burger and added cheddar cheese to it. The burger and side were 10.99 and the cheese was 0.75, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I asked for the burger to be cooked medium well but it looks like it was well done, but that’s hard to achieve with a burger so I’m not complaining. The burger tasted great and the baked potato was amazing! It came with butter and sour cream, which are some of my favorite toppings for a baked potato. For the price, welcoming atmosphere, and portions of food that we got, we were very satisfied.

Small and charming. Lea, our server, was great. Very attentive and took very well care of us. Ribs were flavorful and tender but not fall off the bone tender. We asked for med well steak and it came out very well done. Cole slaw was creamy with celery seeds. Nice but not my style. The baked beans were smoky, sweet, with a nice onion flavor. The hot hamburger plate was huge. Got a chocolate cake to go so I’ll update after I try it. Prices are typical since everything is going up. Nice size menu. I’m not a local but I would return if I was.

This place was pretty awesome. It was busy, yet we got sat pretty fast and we had out drinks and order put in within 10 min. The food was so good. I got baby back ribs and bacon cheese fries. We also got the reubon sandwich. Very nice atmosphere and good music. I really enjoyed eating here.

We live in Maryland and always make sure we visit Spunky’s for a meal when visiting New Bern. If you eat at a chain restaurant and not Spunky’s, shame on you! Homemade soups, chili, coleslaw, shrimp salad and fresh hamburgers for grilling! Thick stacked Reubens and their loaded nachos … truly nothing is bad on this menu and you will leave STUFFED taking a carryout container with you. Their pints are COLD and our waitress Toni was amazing. Always checking on us, making sure everything was ok and drinks full eventhough the restaurant was packed! Waiting for a table is always a sign that the food is good in a restaurant. Spunky McDoogle’s doesn’t disappoint. We can’t wait to return to New Bern and eat here again.
