Idk what happened to the older gentleman who was always at the bar, it’s been about a year and the first time back was not it. We called him pops, older black gentleman who would interact and greet us with smiles. This woman looked at me disgusted when I asked about the rules and showed my ID-like pops made everyone do. She was never seen again- only to tell us she was closing even tho maps said we had another hour. Completely fine. Not bad not terrible just things don’t feel right without him. I always assumed he was the owner from how he was always working and carrying himself. Wish the place still had that charm to it. Also annoying spending 20$ on juke box only to have some random group come and spend money to play all their songs until close basically wasting our money. Needs to be another system in place. Overall fun trolling them tho. Still a chill place to hang, and pops if you’re reading this-hoppy misses ya.

Ordered a Reuben sandwich and the Turkey was burned the bread had burned flakes on it. Wanted Turkey and Roast beef only got a dried Turkey sandwich. Whose ever the cook is needed to be trained. Made Ruebens millions of times. Slaps some 1000 island dressing on both bread put in on the grill add your cheese put your meat on the grill couple minutes will due add your meat top dont forget the crotte over the cheese because cheese should be melted. Put your sandwich together. Take off grille and slice the sandwich serve it to the customer. Thanks Arndrayb

The place wasn’t packed, but it was 11 am so that’s normal. I went in there because I needed a bloody Mary to stop my potentially bloody morning. The man behind the bar was awesome, I do not know his name. All the same it was a great place to be even empty

Didn’t eat any food. Got a beer and waited for our group to join for shooting pool. The space is large, and has a few games besides pool, and pool is free. You might have to move some balls around to get a full rack. We had a great time together until the bartender asked us to leave. It felt like she was annoyed that we were there enjoying the tables even though we’d ordered a few drinks.

This bar is racist. If you’re not white, expect to be treated poorly.
I’m deeply disappointed and upset by the discriminatory treatment my moms’ group received at this bar. We were looking forward to a relaxing night out, but were instead met with suspicion and hostility. The bartender’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Every move was scrutinized, and we were unfairly targeted with accusations, particularly during smoke breaks. We were made to feel like criminals. The aggressive and unwarranted eviction was humiliating. As the only diverse group present, it’s clear this establishment is not welcoming to diverse groups of people. This bar is racist.

Been here one time, on a Friday, with one amazing server with blond hair. However, the white male bartender was rude as hell and seemed like he was drugged up. Multiple bars on Williamsburg road, don’t choose this one.

One of my favorite spots in the world is this place that still lingers in my thoughts since leaving Richmond. I had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people there.
I was first introduced to this gem by my then-boyfriend, who was a regular. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but meeting the amazing Susan Matthews and the rest of the team quickly made me feel at home. It’s a vibrant place filled with people who genuinely care for one another, making it such a fun and welcoming environment.

5/16/2025 Review: Normally come here after work some days. However, a new guy working at the bar had everyone waiting 30+ minutes for anything that was ordered. Whenever Tammy is here, I’ll go up here, but if that guy is there, I’ll go elsewhere.
5/31/2025 Update: Came here again and it was decent. Dealt with Tammy, which is always amazing, and I closed my tab with her. However, there was a woman there that came in about 6-6:30ish. She rang me up for a straight Sprite (No liquor, just a sprite), which was about 3.35 and I gave her a 20% (Which was about a .67 cent) tip. Well, I look at my account this morning and I was charged $9.76. Why was I charged $5.50ish more for a SPRITE.

I recently visited Sportsman Bar and Lounge and had a mixed experience. The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant, providing a comfortable place to relax. However, I noticed that the clientele tended to be on the older side, and there weren’t many females around. While it’s a decent spot for a meal and a drink, it might not be the best choice if you’re looking for a more diverse and lively crowd. Overall, it’s a solid 3-star experience.
