I want a do over but not sure I’ll ever be there again. Our experience was very strange upon entering this place but it was a lot of years ago, maybe 2012. The positive for me was a rancher coming in with his dogs who clearly owned the place. I gave 5 stars for the horror movie feel the day of our visit.

“Do I pass through, or does here pass through me?” That question, scrawled on a wall of dollars, contains the quintessential character of the American West, as does this place. The burgers and fries were real, and so were the people. Don’t miss this stop.

Isebel makes great burgers and she and Dusty are welcoming to those that pass through.
We stopped for lunch on our way out of town and stayed longer than expected because of the kind folks of Jeffrey City!
Oh and hand cut fries!

We had dinner and breakfast here in June while on a bicycle trip as it’s the only place to eat for miles around and which had obviously seen better days. The barman was our waiter for both meals and cooked all the food since he was the only one on the staff. The food was good and while the service wasn’t the fastest because he liked to tell stories, it was fine. Certainly, a unique place to come to in a tiny town in the middle of Wyoming.

I live here in Jeffrey City, and have ate there twice, both times I’ve gotten very sick afterwards. Last time I went in I had to wipe the crumbs from the bar as as I sat down, when I got the menu handed to me, I stuck my thumb in crusty ketchup that was caked on the corner of the menu. I didn’t say much because I really like the lady who was working there, I consider her a friend and she is a neighbor of mine. I made my order and told her I would be back in twenty minutes to pick up my order. My chicken fried ateak was leaking blood through the gravy, and as hungry as I was didn’t even notice until I had already ate a portion of it.When I came back i noticed that every table in the joint was filthy and it looked like the floors hadn’t been swept or mopped at least a week. The first time I ate there and got sick I blew it off as a bug or something, but the second time I was sure about the place. I went to the ER in lander and after hrs of testing and acat scan and all, the doctor came to the same conclusion that I had going in to the ER. After posting my complaints the employees tried to discredit me and the doctors opinion. I’m still sick from this as of today Aug 1 2024. They keep goats out there kitchen back door, and have dogs in the establishment and one of them does and has bitten people, that dog even charged at a freind of mine and his toddler as we were trying to get gas there, if the owner hadn’t been coming around the corner and called the dog off as it was charging ,im sure the dog would have bitten the two yr old or my friend. The owners are eccentric but kind but the upkeep and running of the establishment is quite far from being up to par. I feel it is my duty to warn people not to eat there, but the beer and company are generally not so bad.

Passing through on our moto, needed to stop somewhere to stay. After debating whether the wind blown Green Mountain Motel was actually open we were advised to see Isabelle at the Split Rock Cafe for a key. We checked at the motel and then went to Split Rock for dinner.
Rusty, the barman, was a blast to talk to, and Isabelle served up two each (yes each) of the biggest pork chops.
It’s not the Ritz, Manhattan but it does have more character and was one of the friendliest and most fun stops we’ve had on our travels.

I wish I could give it a 10 star rating. The staff could not be more attentive. The barman really went out of his way to cook burgers, porkchops, fries, a baked potato, and a grilled ham & cheese for hungry cyclists. We played rounds of pool in the meantime while he cooked our food to order. Guys from Peru put some good music on the jukebox. Best food & drink experience in the state of Wyoming. Will return.

My family stopped in on our way through town while traveling. It was truly like stepping back in time. The people (even the local town folks) were all very nice and accommodating. You can tell that they truly enjoy visitors stopping in. If you are uptight, this may not be the place for you. This is not an uptight joint. It’s super laid back but you’ll never feel more welcome at an establishment.
