There was something about the overall vibe of the restaurant that kept me coming back. It’s trendy, quirky, clean… and it was just fun and comfortable. The decor is artsy and intriguing. There are vibrant colors, fun chotskies, great music, things to watch on tv, a station with board games, and even trivia cards at your table
You can sit outside in the front or back, inside at a table, high top, booth, or at the bar
The staff were friendly. I was greeted at the door, I was given recommendations, and the service was speedy
The menu offers wraps, bowls/salads, vegan options, appetizers, desserts. Everything is Mediterranean or Mediterranean adjacent, and everything is delicious. These aren’t necessarily traditional dishes, but more Mediterranean dishes with a flair or twist on them
I had wraps each time with a side of waffle sweet potato fries. Everything was cooked perfectly, and again I didn’t have to wait but what felt like a couple minutes to get my meal. I tried their sangria which was tasty, and their friend pita and hummus which was delightful
I honestly had a lovely time eating in here, and I kept wondering what it might take to franchise them out to Texas. This place has Austin vibes and would probably thrive in any major Texas city
Some tips:
This is downtown, so, there is limited parking, and most of it is metered. There is a lot right next door, but it is for a bank or another business and there are signs that say you will be towed
Cheers!!
i went with a friend and i got the berliner bowl with falafel and a side of waffle/regular fries. my friend got another bowl with chicken and lamb. both bowls were really good in terms of portion size and flavor. the main big is that both tasted really fresh with good ingredients
the fries were also good with the waffle fries better than the regular fries.
great ambiance and great food
In a town that doesn’t have a ton of standout food options, Spitz is such a great addition to the community. The Mediterranean flavors are something different and so well done.
The atmosphere is vibrant and fun — perfect for date night or bringing the family. We love the board games and relaxed vibe. It’s definitely our go-to place! Do yourself a favor and check it out!!!
The food was outstanding— I ordered the vegan Doner basket. I was hungry after a long day and it was PERFECT in every way. I love an overflowing bowl piled high with delicious flavors and textures — this did not disappoint. In fact it was even better than expected. And it had so much variety!
I thought the falafel was excellent (I was told they have just changed their recipe, so those who had lack lustre reviews best be coming back!!) They were tender and moist in the center but crispy and golden on the outside. Perfectly seasoned and bright green with herbaceous notes. The fries were also very tasty though they did get a bit soggy under the pile up.
I LOVED all the sauces! I got the tahini dressing but the hummus and tzatziki were also in the mix and you could help yourself to homemade harissa and shug which both had a nice middle eastern kick! The crunch of the roasted chickpeas and the pita strips, the brininess of the Kalamata olives, and the freshness of the salad greens — such a great combination that keeps every bite exciting! And it feels like the right balance of healthy and indulgent. Salad AND fries 🙂
The soft warm pita bread to sweep around and get all the deliciousness was the final chef’s kiss
I also got a large side Greek salad to take home — which was a meal all its own! And delicious for dinner the next day! That “side” salad is a sleeper good deal!
And the service was also top notch. It was my first time dining here and I had so many questions but they answered every one with enthusiasm. Their beer list is great and has a lot of local selections that are also unique… and they will let you taste before making your final decision 🙂
I felt such a warm welcome at Spitz, it really felt like a true neighborhood gem. High caliber food but totally unpretentious and down to earth. Nothing fussy, just welcoming and delicious while also managing to have pretty cool vibes — due to the amazing murals and art all over the walls (make sure to pay attention to that!) the excellent music playing.
Service: Friendly service and quick and easy ordering
Atmosphere: They have games and it is a very low key, chill atmosphere! It is downtown too.
Highly recommend!
