Service was very good. She even gave us complimentary rice pudding with the food. Being delayed to serve food, but it was not bad though.
Only one server was working. Since I moved to Edmonton recently, I have been to many restaurants in the area. Compared to the Indian restaurants I tried, the food here is not bad but not the best I’ve had in Edmonton. May be it’s my personal taste. The price of the biryani was toward the upper end, but portions were good.

I recently visited Spirit of Indian Kitchen and had a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully maintained.

The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and presented with great attention to detail. You can truly taste the quality of ingredients and care put into the preparation. The portion sizes were generous, and everything arrived at the perfect temperature.

A special thank you to Ritika for providing outstanding service. They were attentive, polite, and extremely professional throughout our visit. They made sure we were comfortable, checked on us at the right times, and gave excellent recommendations from the menu. Their friendly attitude really enhanced the overall dining experience.

Overall, I highly recommend Spirit of Indian Kitchen to anyone looking for great food and exceptional service. I will definitely be coming back!

Great experience. Jessi and Harjot had amazing customer service and made excellent papri chaat (mention me to get the same special chaat, must try). Jessi brought us a good-sized portion of very tasty Papri chaat that everyone enjoyed. Halal chicken karahi, medium spices was a bit spicy for my taste, I’ll go for mild next time. We loved beef kadhai. Butter and garlic naans were excellent. Sweet coconut naan was tasty, too.
Aloo naan were bland needed magic of spices. The setting of the restaurant is nice and clean with black glittery tables .
Tip: Go with mild curries.
Give a thumbs up if you think the same.

Tried this place on the weekend. The service was very good and the food was delicious. We got the fish pakora and I loved the chutney that came with it. The lamb rogan Josh was really good the lamb was perfect and we also got the goat butter masala and the goat was really good in the dish. The server also brought us free rice pudding and it was really good not too sweet. I would go back for sure.

Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Spirit of India! The paneer butter masala was rich, creamy, and bursting with authentic flavors — easily one of the best I’ve had in Edmonton. The garlic naan was perfectly baked, soft, buttery, and paired so well with the curry. If you’re craving delicious Indian food with exceptional service, this is the place to go. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Our family of five visited Spirit of India Kitchen & Bar for a Saturday lunch, seeking a culinary voyage rooted in authentic Indian flavors. What ensued was a largely satisfying dining experience, albeit with a few discernible shortcomings.

We commenced our meal with a selection of appetizers: the traditional papad, masala papad, Paneer Malai Tikka, Chicken Tikka, and Papri Chaat. Each starter showcased commendable craftsmanship — the tikkas were delicately spiced and expertly grilled, while the Papri Chaat delivered a satisfying medley of textures and flavors. However, the pricing of the masala papad struck a discordant note — at $7.99, it felt disproportionately expensive for what is traditionally considered a modest pre-meal nibble.

For our mains, we gravitated toward the seasonal delicacy Sarson ka Saag, paired with its classic counterpart Makki di Roti. Accompanied by a mix of butter naan and chapatis, the breads were uniformly excellent — pillowy, fresh, and well-executed. The saag, while rich and rustic, suffered from an overabundance of salt, slightly marring what could have been a truly memorable dish.

Service, unfortunately, was where the experience faltered. Despite being the only patrons in the restaurant at the time, attentiveness was lacking. The chefs, presumably overwhelmed with delivery orders, remained cloistered in the kitchen, and the lone hostess arrived midway through our meal — only to be preoccupied with maintenance duties. While understandable on a logistical level, it did create a sense of neglect in what was otherwise a serene lunchtime setting.

That said, the overall charm of the establishment and the integrity of the food — grounded in authentic Indian tradition — left a favorable impression. Despite the minor service hiccups and a couple of culinary missteps, we would certainly consider returning. With a little more polish on the service front and some price rationalization, Spirit of India Kitchen & Bar has the potential to elevate itself from good to truly exceptional.

Amazing staff! I ordered 10 mins before closing but they still accepted my order and food quality was not compromised at all. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. Fried cauliflower and fish pakora were finger licking good !!!! The girl at the counter was the sweetest ! Very kind and had a genuine smile. Even the chef was smiling. People like these make the experience so much more enjoyable. Food 10/10 service 100/10. Oh and chicken was also delicious !!!

I’ve ordered from Spirit of India many times, and it’s always a great experience! The food does take a little time, but that’s only because they make everything fresh — and you can really taste the difference. It’s usually not busy, but they still put care into every order. A few days ago, I visited in person and they recommended their new dish, Rajma Chawal — it was so affordable, the portion size was generous, and they even gave me a complimentary side dish! Honestly, they always add something extra whenever I order, which is such a nice touch. I was in a rush that day and told them I had to catch a bus, and they did their best to prepare the food quickly without compromising freshness. Definitely one of my favorite places for authentic Indian food in Edmonton!

We went to this restaurant because it was highly recommended on the internet. It was relatively small and had only 28 seats.

We ordered Curry Chicken with Mango Sauce, Fish Pakora and two orders of garlic naan bread. The curry chicken was not spicy even the spice level we ordered was medium. The mango sauce was too sweet for us.

The fish pieces in Fish Pakora were marinated with spices, coated with seasoned gram flour batter and fried to crispy perfection. The fish pieces were crispy, tender and juicy. We recommend this dish.

Before i write a review i want to say that i born in the northern part of india and there are certain foods that requires a bit mastery on cooking. I have tried almost every restaurant in edmonton nowhere i repeat nowhere i have found kadi chawal this best and exactly like we cook in northern part, this is chef’s one of the best dish in this restaurant. Yes we do eat a lot of common indian stuff in restaurants but i wanted to see their authenticity as they advertised to me and this is i think second restaurant in my opinion that served the justice to indian delicacy. So here are the list you should try for take out who are on certain budget or just wanted to try new indian stuff. Try their Veg pakora as a snack believe me the flavours and softness is just mind blowing never found anywhere except in india and the quantity is more then enough for 2 people with chai, then try their combos especially shahi paneer combo no sweet flavour good enough quantity for atleast 2 people and not pricey at all. This is my top favourite food here on authenticity i am going to try more in the future. Then for dine in customers if you guys do read this review believe me their customer service is top notch lady in the front welcomes you with a smile and genuinely cares about the restaurant and it’s customers which some places lack unfortunately. My dear chef and all staff continue to serve people with love and gratitude along with the delicious food you guys serve, you guys are one of the best restaurants in the town and more people should know about it I wish i had some pictures of the food anyways.

Be in peace and bliss,
Take care.
