Spiga – Cozy Vibes and a Killer Tiramisu

Food:
Let’s start with the standout: the tiramisu. Absolutely nailed it. Creamy, not too sweet, with that perfect balance of espresso and cocoa. I’d come back for that alone. The pasta was solid—fresh and cooked just right—but leaned a little heavy on the salt. Still tasty, just had me reaching for extra water.

Service:
The staff was warm and welcoming, the kind of place where they actually seem happy you’re there. Attentive without hovering, and they gave good recommendations without over-selling anything. Just easygoing, friendly service that made the whole experience more relaxed.

Ambiance:
Spiga’s tiny—just seven tables—but in a charming way. It felt intimate rather than cramped. Think cozy dinner party vibes with soft lighting and a relaxed, neighborhood feel. It’s the kind of spot where you could easily linger over a glass of wine without feeling rushed.

Overall:
Spiga’s a little gem. If you’re into unfussy, well-made Italian in a cozy setting—and you love tiramisu—it’s worth checking out.

Small intimate Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side. Less than 10 tables so reservations are a must. Service was extraordinary, so very attentive and welcoming. Delicious food. Everything ordered was excellent and cooked to order. I highly recommend this hidden gem. Perfect for a small family dinner or a nice date night. You won’t be sorry.

Marco is an amazing owner/host bringing a quality to the cocktails and cuisine that could only be delivered by a true Roman. Best in NYC, by far. It’s a must!

Spiga has been a date-night staple for my partner and me since 2022 (back when it was called Spiga To-Go). The food is consistently excellent — we’ve tried just about everything on the menu, from the pastas to the desserts, and you really can’t go wrong. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible hospitality. The hosts are warm, welcoming, and always make you feel right at home. It’s an intimate, cozy spot that’s perfect for a special night out. I’d highly recommend Spiga to anyone looking for a memorable Italian dining experience.

In the heart of the Upper West Side,
Where the city pulses, and dreams collide,
Spiga stands—a treasure, warm and bright,
A culinary haven, a feast for the night.
Here, the air is fragrant with whispers of thyme,
And pasta twirls in a waltz so sublime.
Each dish a sonnet, crafted with care,
A celebration of flavors that linger in the air.
The laughter of friends, a comforting tune,
Beneath the soft glow of the crescent moon.
Savor the risotto, rich with delight,
Or wood-fired pizzas, a slice of pure light.
With each sip of Chianti, the heart feels so light,
As the sunset bathes the room in soft twilight.
At Spiga, each moment is tender and rare,
A symphony tasted, a love song to share.
So come, sit awhile, let the world fade away,
In this gem of a place, where palates sway.
For in every bite, every shared glance,
You’ll find the essence of Italy’s dance.

My favorite italian restaurant on the UWS. The food is phenomenal and the service is truly some of the best service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Every time I come back I feel like I’m being welcomed by family. It’s a smaller space, but that also adds to the romance of it all. Love love love!

3.5 stars; the pink sauce pappardelle (no sausage since I’m vegetarian), was just ok sort of bland and the pasta felt overcooked. Lots of reviews on the “best tiramisu” and that was also just ok, especially for $11, sort of dry. The cannelloni was also just ok, the shell was a little eggy tasting.

A small gem a few blocks from home! Food was great, fresh and unique taste compared to other Italian restaurants. It is very small and most of the customers were regulars who come very often … and we understand why.

Had the Linguine Nere con Gamberi, Calamari e Pomodoro i.e., squid ink linguine with shrimp, squid and tomato, and the Insalata di Finocchi Mele Rosse Pinoli Ricotta Salata, i.e., Fennel salad with red apple, pine nuts & ricotta cheese.

Both were pleasant. Relative to the salad, the pasta was more delicious. The sauce was delightful — I wished I had had the bread with the sauce!! I had taken the bread out first and set them aside and forgot about them until I finished the pasta.

The bread was a generous portion, and was well baked and I could enjoy it on its own.
