My go-to bagel shop in town! The bagels are so good and made with sourdough, which gives them a slightly different texture than traditional NY bagels, but honestly, I prefer it this way. I usually order the Uncle Sal or Willamette sandwich on an everything bagel or the jalapeño cheddar (AMAZING). Super chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and always a great experience. A must-try!

My best friend picked up a couple bagel sandwiches for her boyfriend in the hospital up the street… They gave her the wrong order. When she attempted to exchange them for a corrected order, they refused to make it right. To be fair, she didn’t get a receipt because she paid cash and was in a hurry, but still, I think it’s ridiculous that she wasn’t able to get the right order. She ended up giving them to a homeless person.

Spielman’s is maybe my favorite bagel spot in portland, mostly because of their salt and herb bagel which is DELICIOUS. However, it’s a toss up whether or not the salt and herb topping actually sticks to the bagel or not. A lot of times I order it and it’s basically a plain bagel. If that gets fixed, it’s 5 stars easy!

I really liked the cream cheese they use… has a great full flavor profile. They didn’t toast the bagels for some reason… bagels themselves were nothing special but solid. Service was fine. Coffee was terrible. Undrinkable swill, lol.

Ordered two bacon jam bagels w/ everything bagels. I get home, open the bagel and immediately notice no arugula on either sandwich. A little disappointing but here we are.
I take my first bite. First thought was it was chewier than normal. Upon further inspection, I realize my sandwich was made using both bagel bottoms. No top. What’s the point of getting an everything bagel with two plain bottoms?
I look over at my girlfriend, ask if she eating bagel tops only and sure enough she is. She said it was very salty. Not a great experience.

Seemingly staffed by the most easily overwhelmed employees I’ve ever seen. This place was by no means busy, and the effort it took to achieve even the simplest order was astounding. Literally no line. It took them 22 minutes to make a turkey sandwich.
a very precious bunch.

$4.5 for a bagel with schmear. Pretty solid bagels!
Relative to the other bagel shops in town, the bread is distinctly less flavorful and more “bready” (less dense, but also something else…) compared to traditional NYC style bagels.
I’d def recommend the egg, cheese and protein plates they have in offer.

This is my 2nd time I have been here now & actually tried the food. Both times I’ve been here for coffee (shaken iced expresso (7.5/10) & hot latte (6.5/10)). My friend got the Willy Wonka special which I tried and wished I got that, it was really good! I also got the avocado smash bagel with cream cheese and that hit the spot too. The pepper turkey bagel was also a hit. This place does remind me of a laundromat lol

I am really so disappointed to write this. I loved Spielmans, ordered at least once a week and the quality has just gone downhill. It’s been multile incorrect orders, which I can deal with. Accidents happen especially if it’s busy. Then it became rude staff members- I get that sometimes people can have an off day and figured maybe it would be better next time.
I can tolerate a lot for good food, but today it was terrible.
I received an item that should never have left the kitchen. I ordered The Fancy, paid extra for bacon (this was my favorite). What I got was a bagel sandwich with bacon so burnt it shouldn’t have been served. Like I could smell it through the bag.
This was literally charcoal (see pics). This should have been tossed and remade. I’m just shocked someone actually packaged that and sold it.
It’s just really sad, I loved this place and recommended it often; but it seems like they just don’t care anymore.

A solid neighborhood bagel and coffee shop in NW Portland!
As with most bagel shops, the earlier you come, the better bagel selection you have.
Opted for a bagel sandwicch and oat latte. They forgot to add sausage to my sandwich, but quickly made one for me and even offered a coffee on the house! Solid tasting bagel, nothing too exciting but would definitely come back for a slow morning bite or quick one on the way to work!
Came around 11am and it was not too busy at all. Place has plenty of indoor seating, although best lighting is near the window.
2 tiers of smear (flavored and premium) differ by price of $1.
