We started with the Sri Lankan Rolls (both the lamb and fish were perfect) and a Stuffed Roti for a vegetarian option. For our mains, we tried the traditional Lumprais with bone-in chicken, which was rich and complex, and the standout Curry Burrito with beef. This dish perfectly blends a classic burrito with vibrant Sri Lankan spices, giving it a fantastic kick that adds to the flavor without overpowering it.
To wash it all down, the Mango Lassi and Passion Lassi were a great balance of sweet and tangy. If you’re looking for unique food that’s both authentic and creative, Spicy Zest is the place to be. Highly recommend.
We went here Sunday, January 11, at 12:30 p.m., and ordered a la carte instead of the buffet. The server was super friendly. You will love this place.
Service- Staff were very welcoming and they explained menu to us, esp helped my wife who is vegetarian to indicate which food has meat.
We loved most of the dishes, mango curry, Chicken Kottu, shrimp curry
Appetizers were the best part of the buffet.
Kids loved the desserts, the choco mousse stole the show
Although, our only suggestion is they have artificial plants by buffet line which have lot of dust and could use cleaning
Update: because of the owner of the store, I was able to make idiyappam at home for the first time! It was a success! I added my home cooked idiyappam in the list of photos hehe.
We will definitely be back again when we are back in TX.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for real Sri Lankan taste and amazing service
Good morning.
I first came across you through Derana Chatura’s interview and saved your contact number back then—but I never imagined I’d one day visit your restaurant, especially since I live all the way in Michigan.
What truly amazed me was learning that you drove all the way from Texas to cater an event for the University of Colombo alumni in the Detroit suburbs—over 1,175 miles, nearly 18-20 hours of driving one way. That level of commitment and dedication speaks volumes about your character.
When I mentioned my upcoming arrival to DFW, you immediately offered help with transportation. And when I stepped into your restaurant, even amidst your busy schedule, I could feel how genuinely you cared about making sure I was welcomed and looked after.
In the short time I spent there—just 30 to 45 minutes—I noticed how warmly you treat every customer, like an old friend. It’s clear that you’re working tirelessly to promote Sri Lankan cuisine and proudly represent Sri Lanka through your work. I truly admire your passion and effort.
I’ve also heard glowing feedback about your long-distance catering events. To all Sri Lankans across the U.S., I strongly recommend your services—because clearly, distance is no barrier when it comes to the quality and dedication you bring.
Wishing you continued success in all your endeavors. Wherever your journey takes you, may you always stay safe and healthy.
I thought it might be similar to Indian cuisine, but it was surprisingly different! The flavors were incredibly unique—lots of coconut, tamarind, and mango. Everything we tried was bursting with taste and totally delicious.
The owner was beyond kind and welcoming. We let him know that we’re vegetarian, I’m gluten-free, and this was our very first time trying Sri Lankan food. He personally walked us through the entire buffet, explaining what was safe for us to eat. That level of care? So rare—and so appreciated!
Since there weren’t too many gluten-free options at the buffet, he even had the kitchen make special rice dishes just for us—like veggie fried rice and a flavorful masala rice.
Hands down, my favorite dishes were the eggplant salad and the mango curry—I would honestly go back just for that mango curry alone!
Beyond the food, the vibe was amazing. The staff checked in often, made us feel at home, and there was even a live singer with such a beautiful voice—it added the perfect touch to an already wonderful evening.
10/10 experience. We felt cared for, welcomed, and absolutely stuffed with delicious food. Can’t wait to go back!
