We ordered lumprice and were really disappointed as it wasn’t complete. I was really craving for it, and wanted to give a try even though the buriyani we ordered months ago wasn’t even buriyani. It was yellow rise and some coconut sambal with chicken.
Back to lumprice, the rice was good and flavorful, definitely got the flavor from banana leaf but was missing other elements like seeni sambal, ash plantain.
Still I would say the rice curry and short eats are good. I haven’t tried others. I recommend not to get any speciality menu.

This is hands-down the best spot in Melbourne for truly authentic Sri Lankan food—the kind of flavours you’d find in a traditional village back home. Their curries are rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced; the rice is cooked just right; and even the short eats are spot-on, crispy, flavourful, and made with real care. The place is spotlessly clean and hygienic too, which makes every visit feel reassuring and enjoyable.
What truly sets it apart is the heart behind it: two wonderful Sri Lankan souls running the show, with genuine customer satisfaction as their top priority. Their warmth, attentiveness, and passion shine through in every interaction. I can’t recommend them highly enough—they’re my absolute favourite and consistently exceed expectations.

I’m so impressed with this little shop thanks to friend’s recommendation. The veggie set for lunch special was so yum which has a fine blend of flavours. If you like something spicy, their deep fried chili is a must try, but just bite a bit everytime as it is really hot . One thing they need to improve is to have a better ventilation to let the oily smell out of the shop.

Great food, the lump rice has increased to $18 but the food quantity and quality has not changed. Love the food. Try it out. Most places reduce quantity and increase price, but this is not the case here. Still the best Lump rice, taste, quality and quantity. We will be back.

What a Gem of a Srilankan Restaurant in the Heart of Huntingdale road in Oakleigh.. ! Traditional home made Srilankan food ! Reminds me of a Srilankan Restaurant in “Lower east-side “ in Manhattan NY! One of the best I thought until I came across this restaurant Spicy Swan! Kudos to the owners introducing us to traditional Srilankan Cooking … remember you will not find them on Any of the food delivery apps because they pride themselves in thier cooking and want you to pickup or dine in. I ordered the Kothu roti Chicken( pic from a week ago) absolutely amazing perfectly cooked chicken with a soft fluffy texture of the deconstructed roti and those curry spice flavors complimented the dish beautifully.
Today I tried the Paratha meal plate (the Brussels sprouts fry was delicious sautéed with grated Coconut! The Dhal was creamy cooked with coconut milk and delicious , The beef curry was very tasty with succulent diced Beef great idea for those flavors to sink into the pieces of beef and engulf the beef with the flavors of the curry.
Totally recommend if you are willing to venture into the world of Traditional Srilankan cooking and you will not be disappointed

This is my regular and I can’t say enough good things about it. Absolutely delicious authentic food and very reasonably priced. These foods remind my mom’s foods back in Srilanka. You can’t go wrong, Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans too. Highly recommended!!!
