We picked Spicy House based on the description of it being a Sichuan style. We dined in, ordering the chicken wings appetizer, and Mapo Tofu and Dry Pot Beef.
The wings were large and perfectly cooked, with a really good seasoned breading. It has been a long while since we’ve had wings this good.
The Mapo Tofu was very good. I’d ordered it spicy, and it had some of that wonderful numbing – but next time I’ll get it extra spicy.
The Dry Pot Beef was also very good. The beef was well seasoned and tender. The veggies were cooked perfectly – there was still crunch left.
Overall we were happy with the meal and would go back. Service was prompt.

This noodle place is absolutely fantastic! The noodles are mouth-watering and incredibly satisfying. Each dish is bursting with flavor, and the quality of ingredients is top-notch. Simply put I would have been better off to had gone to one of the local Chinese buffets.
I looked them up online and it seemed to have decent reviews overall. I went in to place a to go order, having checked out the menu online.
First red flag, place had a damp feel when I went in and smelled of old / used fry oil.
Second red flag, multiple menu items weren’t available. One or two I could understand but it seemed as though there were more not then were. Pork Wontons – nope, Hot and Sour Soup – nope, Sliced Pork – nope, it was easier to have the waitress just to tell me what my choices were.
Third red flag, the waitress was in too much of a hurry. I told her it was my first time there. Turns out she was to busy watching a video on her phone about how to filet fish. Within seconds of handing me my receipt she was seated back at her bowl of whatever and slurping and surfing away.
Finally, in the end I had ordered two main dishes and a large order of pan fried dumplings. Total cost $50 and some change. Yeap that’s right $50 bucks!!!
Got home and one of the dishes was supposed to be sweet and sour spare ribs (pork) however what I got was a braised shortrib (beef) in a brown sauce that taste like it’s had sugar mixed in (see picture.) The other main is sliced beef in salt bean sauce, not what I wanted (cumin beef) but what they had.
Like I said, better off going to one of the buffets in town cause this place is nothing to brag about and not worth the experience.

One of the best places for Chinese food in Lafayette. The scallion pancakes are delicious. The Mapo Tofu with Chili Sauce, Dry Pot Beef, and Pork Wontons are some of our absolute favorite meals. If you like your food spicy, this place DOES NOT miss. Definitely think it needs more recognition and praise for how the food is consistently delicious!

I’m so excited that there’s finally an AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant in Lafayette, and I can’t wait to go back. Everything was so flavorful and delicious – definitely spicy but I love that! The dumplings in chili oil and scallion pancakes were the best I’ve had since living in Chinatown NYC. For mains, the cumin beef was heavenly. My only complaint is that the laziji/spicy chicken was too breaded (“popcorn” style) instead of deep fried which is the traditional way.
The place is pretty small – we came for Sunday lunch and luckily managed to snag a table but I can see having to wait at busier times.

We got the dishes you see below. There was a little spice but it wasn’t so powerful that your nose dripped. Frankly I think they should have a picture next to each menu item with a better description for some of the dishes because it doesn’t do the food that’s coming to your table justice. Boiled fish or boiled beef are standout dishes you should try.

I had been eyeing this place for a while before I had the chance to stop in. I was expecting some fast-food version of Asian cuisine. I was pleasantly mistaken!
This is a higher-end restaurant, in both the atmosphere and the menu. And the menu items are authentic. The server explained the menu items and made great recommendations for me. I will definitely be back.

I have heard so many good things about this place and it did not disappoint. The service was good and the young lady was very polite and helpful explaining their menu and what to expect since it was our first time here. Everything is extremely authentic and yes spicy however you can ask for mild versions. I had the Boiled beef in spicy sauce. It was a large bowl with plenty of beef and veggies in a spicy broth. I just couldn’t stop eating it! It was so good! I definitely want to return and try more.
