Authentic Indian Street Food Spice Waala aims to take Indians on a nostalgic journey back home while simultaneously introducing non-Indians to the multitude of authentic Indian flavors. Spice Waala serves kathi rolls which are flavorfully spiced proteins (chicken, lamb, potato, cheese) garnished with our signature green chutney, and wrapped in thin roti (Indian bread). The combination delivers a burst of authentic Indian flavors in your mouth that’ll leave you begging for more. Additionally, we serve a variety of other items like mango lassi, chai and other side items like chaat. I’ve been here a suspicious number of times and somehow it’s consistently good. The crew seems extremely attractive, hardworking, and emotionally resilient under pressure. The food comes out fast — almost like the kitchen actually cares.

Highly recommend the chicken tikka roll, especially if you ask for it “Calcutta style” If you know, you know.

Will definitely be back tomorrow. And the next day. And probably the day after that.

I don’t go to Washington often, but when I do, there are a few places I must visit. Spice Waala has become one of those places I actively look forward to squeezing into my schedule. No matter how busy they are, the turnaround is shockingly fast, I’ve rarely waited more than a few minutes, and watching such a small team handle the rush with that level of efficiency is impressive in itself.

The food is what really keeps me coming back. It’s bold, comforting, and clearly made by people who care deeply about getting it right. You can tell there’s a lot of pride and cultural authenticity behind what they’re serving, not just a generic take on the cuisine.

On my last visit, Jackson helped me out and was genuinely warm and engaging. His enthusiasm and knowledge added to the experience and made the stop feel personal rather than transactional. It’s rare to find a place that’s this consistently good, this fast, and still feels human. Spice Waala manages all three effortlessly.

I already loved the Kathi rolls and snacks, but I’ve been SLEEPING on the flavor of the month soft serve (so rich and delicious!)
This place is probably the last affordable non big chain restaurant left in Seattle and a favorite for sure.

If you like flavor, this place will be a slam dunk for sure. As an Indian, I loved it! As a West Indian, I was more than impressed by their Tamarind Chutney – top tier! Will definitely be a regular customer!

Every time my wife and I visit Washington, we make a point to stop by Spice Waala. The longest we’ve ever waited is about 15 minutes, and most of the time our food is out in under five — which, by Seattle standards, is ridiculously fast. They usually seem to be running with just two people, and it’s obvious how hard they work. The food is incredible and genuinely authentic. Jackson was especially kind, and I was really impressed by his knowledge and passion for the food.

Loved my experience at Spice Waala! The food was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. Everything came out quickly, and the service was smooth and efficient. Solid food, speedy experience, and an easy place to grab a satisfying meal. Would come back.

Small but mighty: what Spice Waala lack in size, they make up in flavor and deliciousness. Their restaurant’s recommendation is to order 1 Kathi Roll + 1 Snack or 2 Kathi Rolls per hungry adult.

Here’s what we’ve tried:
* Kathi Roll Lamb Kebab – my favorite dish here. It’s super delish, perfectly spiced and seasoned, and juicy.
* Kathi Roll Chicken Tikka – Hubby’s fav and a close second for me too
* Kathi Roll Paneer Bhurji – interesting and flavorful
* Soft serve ice cream – flavors seem to rotate monthly, and they always showcase unique flavors. The fennel soft serve was creamy and delicious.
* Snack Masala Aloo: The fries are pretty good and nicely spiced but if you had to choose between dishes, I think this is skippable unless you really love fries (a little biased here as I’m not a fries person).

This is served street food style and there’s a small window to order and pick up your food. We first visited on a typical Seattle cold and rainy day, and they were really busy, so just keep that in mind as the waiting and small dining area are outdoors. Best bet is to go right when they open for dinner at 5 PM or order ahead online to avoid a long wait. Staff is always friendly even when they’re slammed.

You will be the envy of your D&D game! I was running late and needed a quick dinner. Spice Waala might be the only decent and quick food in Columbia City. It smells great and tastes even better!

They only have takeout with some nice picnic tables out front. The prices were quite reasonable and the food has solid flavor. I loved the spiciness of the lamb kabob Kathi roll. It was small, but delicious. The mango lassi was good, a bit thick and I could’ve used more mango flavor, but nice nonetheless. The chaat was the highlight. I loved the little card they give you that shows how chaat is constructed. Since it is all to-go, it made sense not to fully make the dish but to turn it into a kit that folks then build themselves. The only downside is that this approach does generate more materials (i.e. plastic containers for the yogurt, sev and chutney.)

Since I moved to Columbia city a couple years ago, Spice Waala has been my spot. The food is delicious, a great price, and Jackson and the staff are always friendly. Even though I’m moving out of the neighborhood, I’ll be back just to eat at Spice Waala.
