Food was tasty and not at all oily.
Taking your own alcohol kept the price down so making it more affordable – we will be back!

We really enjoyed it
This restaurant had excellent reviews for years, but it appears to have changed ownership recently, and our experience was very different. My dining partner had raved about this place however he had not been since the change of owners.
Upon entering the restaurant I was surprised to see it virtually empty at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. Yes it’s January but it’s the only restaurant in the village. The harsh lighting didn’t help the atmosphere. We only discovered that no alcohol was served once seated, via a laminated sign on the wall, and despite being handed a drinks menu that included alcoholic drinks. There was no mention of this on the website. No nearby shops to grab a bottle.
The pickles with the poppadoms were concerning: mango chutney was thin, syrupy and intensely red, and the raita was a gloopy, synthetic-looking green. The lamb seekh and chicken tikka (with pineapple) starters were both an unnatural deep red, tasted wrong, and were genuinely unpleasant. I couldn’t get past the first mouthful despite being very hungry.
We made the difficult decision to cancel the mains and offered to pay for what we’d been given so far; the staff were kind enough not to charge us. We were stuck in Broadclyst with an hour to wait for our bus and no nearby shops, so the decision to abandon our romantic night out wasn’t done lightly. We ended up eating a rushed burger at the nearby pub, but our appetites had been completely lost by then. We both spent the rest of the evening feeling queasy which spilled into the next day for me.
I’m posting this in the spirit of community, as I’d hate others to have the same experience.
Restaurant food is most probably the best in the Exeter area.
Beer selection was limited.
A great place to come out with my family and friends.
Highly recommended
Only issue is the parking is very limited so maybe get a taxi.
Update 2019: This is still a fantastic restaurant. Staff were attentive and food came quickly. They also treated us to complimentary drinks and starters as it was are anniversary.
Highly recommended. Not for good small children.
