We ordered Mirchi Bajji, Garlic Naan, Street Style Chicken Noodles, Chicken Biryani, and Kadai Vegetable. Some of the food had decent flavor, but there was a strange item either in the rice or the Kadai Vegetable that completely changed the taste and made that dish unpleasant. The main entrées were supposed to come with rice, but they didn’t bring it out at first. When they finally did, it was just a small bowl with about four spoonfuls, not really enough for a full meal.

We also ordered a side of cauliflower, and one of the pieces turned out to be chicken, which was very disappointing since I am vegan. The service was also not great. Any group of six or more automatically gets an 18 percent service charge, which they list as a service fee instead of gratuity. Our sodas didn’t come until we asked several times, and one of our appetizers came out after most of the main dishes were already served.

The restaurant itself didn’t feel very clean. We noticed some dead bugs on the floor and the bathrooms were not very well maintained. Overall, the food was okay, but the service and cleanliness really need improvement.

Butter chicken is the best of any Indian restaurant I’ve had in STL, hands down. We also got Vijiwada biryani and the flavor was amazing, huge portion. Spice level 3 is about perfect for someone who enjoys spicy things. It’s enjoyable and flavorful but not too much. Garlic naan is the best!

I recently dined at spice mantra on a whim. The server was pretty adamant about my leaving a review. I ordered one of their signature dishes with paneer and cashews. It was pretty yummy, but not as flavorful as their Punjabi samosas which really hit the spot. They were full and crispy with the tiniest hint of spice. For my main course, I ordered a spice level of 2. For those who have a low spice tolerance, I’d say this is the perfect level, but for those who really enjoy spice, go much higher. I was expecting much more in that regard. The service was pretty slow, but overall polite and a good experience. I also enjoyed an Iranian chai. Solid portion sizes, chill, family friendly atmosphere. I’d definitely come again.

Flavors were spot on AND they served me raw chicken, not once but twice. They tried making it right but the second time was still raw.
Went there based on Google reviews so felt obligated to share. Fortunately, they made it right and I only paid for my other dishes. I just hope I don’t end up with food poisoning from the pieces I ate before noticing their condition in the biryani.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Spice Mantra, an Indian restaurant that truly impressed me with its rich flavors and inviting atmosphere. From the moment I stepped in, the ambience set the tone for a great meal. The restaurant boasts a modern, clean interior with a relaxed and cozy vibe. The added bonus of a bar attached to the dining space adds a touch of sophistication and makes it a great spot for both casual dinners and weekend hangouts.

Appetizers: A Spicy Start

I started my meal with their Chicken Manchurian, and I must say – it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked – juicy, tender, and bursting with bold, South Indian-style flavors. The spices were just right, offering a flavorful kick without being overpowering. The texture was crisp on the outside and succulent inside, making every bite incredibly appetizing. It was the perfect dish to awaken the taste buds and set the mood for the main course.

Main Course: Biriyani Heaven

For the main course, I tried two types of biryani – the Vijayawada Boneless Chicken Biryani and the Mutton Fry Biryani.
• The Vijayawada Boneless Biryani was a true standout. It was packed with layers of flavor, featuring well-marinated chicken pieces that were tender and generously spiced. The rice was perfectly cooked – fluffy, fragrant, and infused with spices. What made it even more special was the addition of cashews, which added a delightful crunch and a hint of richness. This biryani was comforting, satisfying, and incredibly delicious – a must-try for biryani lovers.
• The Mutton Fry Biryani had a spicier kick to it, which I appreciated. The mutton was flavorful, but a bit on the tougher side. Despite that, the spice profile was on point, giving the dish a robust and hearty character. If you enjoy strong flavors and a bit of heat, this one will definitely appeal to your palate.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Spice Mantra. The service was prompt and courteous, the food quality was top-notch, and it the setting was both vibrant and relaxing. From the juicy and flavorful Chicken Manchurian to the richly spiced biryanis, every dish showed care in preparation and authenticity in flavor.

Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just exploring it for the first time, I highly recommend visiting Spice Mantra. It’s the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your meal!

I drove literally 1 hour to get a biryani for my dinner and after getting it’s not at all good. Not Even like some mediocre biryani. Piece is uncooked and hard, rice is blant even after asking for spicy truly disappointing. Not gonna come here again.

I just Ordered Gongura chicken Biryani, it was tasteless, No Salt, No Spice. I asked for Spicy (Hot) but it was mild. I didn’t get any Gongura Flavour and Biryani Flavour, it’s just a white Rice and Green Chili Flavour and Raitha it was completely Cilantro, It was Cilantro Water.Totally Disappointed. I Ordered 2 to 3 times, This time not even 1% of it.

Visited for the first time a couple days ago. The food was delicious but I had to knock off a couple stars for the service and not getting enough rice for my meal.

I dined in and ordered chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. Taste was amazing but…. I was given this little bowl of rice that barely lasted half my meal and they wanted to charge me more, to get more rice. I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant that gave such small portions of rice for the meals. I normally just put a little bit of rice on my naan bread with a spoonful of tikka masala but I ran out of rice really quick which has never happened before.

Then when I went to pay I used cash and gave them $30 on a bill that was about $20.40 and I waited and waited and she never came back to give me my change. Finally I figured out my server was NOT coming back, I don’t know why anyone would assume that I’m tipping almost 50%. I had to walk up to the cash register and ask someone else for my change. The lady who was at the register then went over to talk to my server, my server then proceeded to seem like she was giving her attitude in another language. I don’t know what my server said about me, but she sounded argumentative and her tone of voice also did not sound very nice. Im a bit of a shy non-confrontational person, and the whole experience made me feel extremely uncomfortable as I was standing there watching from several tables away.

I’d love to go back and get more food again because it tastes it so good, but I’m worried that I can only order takeout now since I will probably have to make my own rice in order to have enough for my food, plus the uncomfortable service experience.
