We went as a group of 12 people and had a really great experience. The chef personally came to our table and genuinely asked how the food was, which was a very nice and thoughtful touch. You can really tell they care about the quality and customer experience.

The food was extremely good. I especially loved the shrimp pulav — it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The pachi mirchi dish was excellent, and the gobi starter was super tasty and crispy. Overall, the food and hospitality were both amazing. We all really enjoyed it and would definitely visit again!

Just tried the newly opened Indian place in Ballwin and here’s the scoop:

Had the Spice Mantra Special Chicken Curry (medium) — bold, rich, and authentic. You can feel the heat (Indian medium, not American dampened down). The sauce was great, though a tad oily, and I wish there was more chicken relative to sauce.

The rice was mild — pleasant, but I wanted more aromatic flair. I suspect they used ponni rice, which makes sense given the South Indian flavor leanings.

The standout was chili garlic naan — garlicky, slightly spicy, chewy in the best way.

Pros: solid concept, strong flavors, good naan, promising start.
Cons: sauce heavy, chicken-to-sauce ratio off, rice could be more expressive.

I’m planning to revisit and try more dishes — would suggest it for anyone who enjoys authentic Indian flavor with some character.

Great Masala Chai! Definitely opened up the space from the Mi Lupita layout that previously occupied this spot. Lights were very bright. As a personal preference, although light fixtures were beautiful, I would have liked a bit more subdued lighting. Just a preference.
Chicken Tikki Masala was good. I got American Mild. Spicy with sweet top note. Garlic Naan was good. It was softer than I would like. I prefer Naan that is a bit on the crispy side, but it was flavorful. The biryani rice served with the Masala and with my son’s Chicken Curry was wonderful! Perfectly cooked. It just delicately fell with no chewiness or sticking together. Loved the cardamom with the anise accent flavor. It really paired well with the Tikki Masala. The Rasmalai was a bit of a let down. Not much flavor and very dense. I asked about the Kheer and the waitress was very knowledgeable about explaining the different types of Kheer. I wanted to try it, but unfortunately they did not have it or the next dessert down on the Dessert list available. So, I went with my 3rd choice, the Rasmalai.
Same thing happened when my son was excited to try the Mango ice cream, one of about 5 ice creams offered. Unfortunately, we were told none of the ice creams were available. So, he ended up not ordering dessert.
I would caution that you are VERY clear when ordering your spice level. My son asked for spice level 2, or one up from mine, and his entree was uber spicy. We ordered another Mango Lassi to offset the spiciness of his Chicken Curry & asked the waitress about it. She mistakenly ordered him a Level 3, but on the receipt it said Spice level 4! So, be warned. Having said that, he liked it but could not finish it because it was just too spicy.
Overall, it was good and we would probably go again if our go-to Indian restaurant, Saffron, wasn’t open which is why we tried this out tonight, but not overly excited. Worth it to try if you like Indian food, especially Southern Indian food which I believe this is.

My wife and I are here for the first time tonight and it was amazing. I am originally from California and my hometown has one of the largest Indian communities in the US. I’ve been searching for good Indian food in Missouri for a few years and I do believe I finally found it. Thank you so much for the amazing food and hospitality and we can’t wait to come back.

We had lunch here with a group of 12 people and it was a wonderful experience. We tried a variety of dishes including Chicken Biryani, Mutton, Haleem, Pachi Mirchi pulav, and Shrimp pulav, and every item was flavorful and well prepared. The Chicken Biryani was aromatic and perfectly cooked, while the Mutton was tender and rich in taste. The Haleem was thick, authentic, and very satisfying. The Pachi Mirchi pulav had a great balance of spice and tanginess, and the Shrimp pulav was fresh and delicious with excellent seasoning. Along with we had karampodi Chiken, chiken lollipop, karampodi gobi and paneer 65 biryani. The portions were generous and perfect for sharing among a group. Overall, the food quality, taste, and variety made our lunch very enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves authentic and flavorful dishes.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Spice Mantra! I had been hearing rave reviews from friends about this restaurant’s delicious food, and I finally got the chance to try it myself. I’m so glad I did, it was a wonderful.

I ordered from the Indo-Chinese wok section: street-style veg fried rice, gobi Manchurian, and chili baby corn. I also tried a few desserts and drinks for the first time such as Falooda pastry, Rasmalai pastry, and Iranian chai. Every single item was flavorful, but the Iranian chai truly stood out, it was unbelievable!

Next time, I’m excited to explore their Andhra-style dishes and biryani. Looking forward to my next visit!

The hostess was very nice, lamb curry and garlic naan was delicious served very quickly and graciously within 15 minutes of ordering. Lamb curry had genuine spices and great flavor. I got level 4 spice and it hit the spot, coming from someone who makes Indian food. I’ll definitely recommend to family and friends and will be back

This place has been a bit of a hit-or-miss for me. We have ordered takeout around 10-12 times since they opened, and the experience really depends on the day.

There have been some disappointing days. Once I ordered two different veg curries (malai kofta and a paneer curry), but both had the same gravy and tasted very heavy with too much cream and butter. Another time the butter chicken was spicier for the mild level and Biriyani was plain white rice in the bottom with chicken curry on the top.The bucket Biriyani quantity was less, instead I should have ordered 2 regular biriyanis.

That said, they do have some really good dishes like Chicken 65, Karampodi chicken, paneer 65 and Karampodi gobi are excellent and consistently flavorful. Their lunch specials are also a great deal:you get an appetizer, rice, naan, curry, and gulab jamun which is satisfying and good value. The veg fried rice and noodles were tasty too.

Overall, it’s a place where the experience isn’t always consistent. When it’s good, it’s really good, but when it’s off, it’s disappointing. Because of that inconsistency, I’m giving it 3 stars. I hope they improve their consistency, as the food definitely has potential.

The food here was absolutely amazing. They were out of a couple things, but it didn’t matter. Our alternative choices were amazing. The menu had a great selection. I am a huge fan of Indian food, and this was a nice step above what I have gotten at any other similar restaurant. Big perk for me was menu was clearly marked with Gluten free options, and it was so easy to navigate safe options!! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, my husband had the Lamb Saag, our son had the Malai Kofta, the Gulab Jamun for dessert and the Mango Lassi to drink. Will definitely be back.

Very delicious food! We ordered the lamb curry and goat biryani and they were great. We got a spice level 2 and 1 respectively and to be honest it was a bit much for me, so if you have a lower tolerance get a mango lassi to cut through the spice.
