Reservation is a must.
Before COVID, they had AYCE brunch on Sunday. My wife and I brithday are days apart, we enjoyed going here to celebrate.
This past Valentine’s day, took my wife and daughter for brunch. They have a great kids menu. We had some east coast oysters, which I recommend getting. Fresh and delicious! We also had creamy ricotta flatbread as appetizer, a must order. My wife had a prime rib melt. She enjoyed it but was nothing over the top special. I had the blackened fish taco. Wish they doubled the soft she’ll Taco. Kinda fell apart. But Pico de gallo was so good, I would recommend it.
Overall it’s always a great experience!
PS: they bring back the AYCE brunch for easter and mothers day.
From my lovely waitress Sasha it was a pleasure to receive her great service.
She did an excellent job of creating a very nice fine dining experience.
She kept our waters topped up, when I went to the washroom she neatly folded my napkin again for my return, she kept a good watch on our table just to see if we needed anything.
The food took a bit longer than usual so Sasha apologetically offered me a complimentary Caesar Salad on the house. I sure didn’t expect any special treatment like this but it truly made me feel like a valued customer.
I ordered the Clam Chowder potato, bacon, dill oil. I enjoyed it and noticed it had a lot of fresh tasting clams in it.
The Baby Kale Caesar Sasha kindly brought me had bacon, parm, anchovy mayo dressing on it.
For mains i ordered the Steak cooked medium and Eggs that came with
Chimichurri, fingerling potato
Also the Quiche with roasted pear, bacon, fontina cheese, spinach.
It was better than good and I will be ordering this Quiche every chance I get.
The atmosphere was beautiful with a view of Lake Ontario. There was an ice rink below and we were enjoying watching the children skating.
I will definitely be coming back to this really great restaurant again soon!
The service was excellent — the staff were attentive, friendly, and the food arrived promptly.
Overall, the food was great. We tried several dishes:
• Steak and Eggs: This was our least favorite dish, as the sauce was a bit too lemon-forward for our taste and didn’t pair particularly well with the steak, though that might just be a personal preference.
• Crab Cake: Very flavorful, and we found it pairs especially well with the truffle fries. a combination we highly recommend.
• Steak Melt: Our favorite dish of the meal. The flavors complemented each other perfectly, and it was executed beautifully.
• Brussels Sprouts: Delicious overall, though a touch on the sweeter side for me personally.
The view was absolutely stunning. especially if you enjoy being near the water. It’s truly one of the nicest spots I’ve been to.
We had a fantastic time here and would definitely recommend this place to others.
We started with the lobster roll, crab eggs Benedict, and fish and chips — all three were honestly perfect. The lobster roll definitely stole the show though. It was so fresh, flavorful, and just mouth-watering.
For dessert, we had the strawberry shortcake waffles, which were the perfect sweet ending.
Overall, 10/10. Would definitely go back.
The steaks were the highlight of the meal. The ribeye was cooked exactly how I asked and was very enjoyable. The tenderloin came out closer to medium rare than the firm medium requested, but it was still good. We added Brussels sprouts and mushrooms as enhancements, and both were well seasoned and complemented the meal nicely.
Portions were generous, and we once again ordered more than we could finish. Service was great throughout the evening, and the atmosphere felt comfortable yet upscale. Spencer’s is a good choice for a birthday celebration or even just a night out when you want good food and a nice setting.
As a recommendation, I would even say the serving of brussel sprouts could easily be halved. Portions here are massive.
Great experience. definitely recommend.
Ps: I took a peak at a lobster roll leaving the kitchen and it looked beautiful.
Spencer’s invited us back for a dinner to make up for our previous experience, and I’m happy to say they fully redeemed themselves. Chris once again delivered exceptional service, and the kitchen served a proper 12 oz prime rib that was tender, flavourful, and far better prepared than our first visit. The burrata and oyster Rockefeller were delicious and beautifully presented. Both Hannah and Daniel made a point to introduce themselves, and the entire team made us feel valued rather than “difficult.” Big improvement, and we really appreciated the effort.
Beautiful view and great server, but the management was disorganized, unprofessional, and made a simple dinner far more frustrating than it should’ve been. Chris the general manager handled my review with grace and as a learning experience. We will happily dine with Spencer’s again.
Original review:
My partner and I had a nice meal at Spencer’s at the Waterfront, but the management experience really soured the night. Their website and weekly newsletter both advertised the Sunday Roast Beef Dinner at $60 per person, but OpenTable showed $70. I called ahead, both the hostess and manager insisted it was $70, and they requested I text proof from their own website. They agreed and I asked them to make sure my bill reflected $60 when we arrive to avoid any drama.
When the bill came, of course, we were charged $70. Our wonderful server (not his fault) said the manager had meant to fix it but forgot. The bill had to be corrected THREE TIMES, and the manager never once came by to apologize, she only apologized to the server, not to us.
We later learned the price changed two weeks ago, so the confusion was clearly internal. The prime rib was tasty but definitely not 12 oz, and the sides were tiny: one tiny heirloom carrot, a fingerling potato halved, a quarter of a beet, half an oyster mushroom, one piece of broccolini, and a sprinkle of microgreens. The portion felt minimal and the overall value disappointing for the price point.
Overall, the view was beautiful and the server was great, but management was disorganized and unprofessional.
I use to hold my birthday brunch party here annually but have moved on to other places.
