It’s been more than 15 years since I last visited Speedy’s BBQ after moving out of the area. It’s always a bit of a question after that much time how a place holds up. So excited to see this place sticking to tradition and clearly has not floundered over the years.
This is top of the line NC pork bbq! Always has been and continues to one of my very favorite places to find this style of bbq done right.
The staff is friendly and welcoming and the service on point. It’s been redecorated some since my last visit but continues to have nice country appeal.
I had the chopped bbq sandwich with slaw. I found the best way to eat it is dump it opened onto plate and then drenched in their homemade sauce. Hit the spot!
Definitely wish I still lived closer but will always stop in when passing through.

Amazing barbecue exclusively sold by the mound. Felt like three metric tons for 12.75. Wait staff was on point never letting the suffering of an empty glass be known. Location has changed since my childhood but the rest of the nostalgia bomb remained.

This is a great place to get some good ol’ comfort food. Southern BBQ, burger, fries, onion rings, and don’t forget the cobbler!! All the staff take care of any needs you may have during your meal. Heck, you even get your own little pitcher of drink refills right off the bat. Very generous portions, so if you leave hungry that’s on you!

Took my wife there for lunch. We questioned the $12 for such a large portion that we could’ve easily split. The bbq was very bland with NO taste and weird texture. The fries, baked beans and hush puppies were the highlight of the meal. Definitely not a great representation of NC BBQ.

Food was good. The 2nd time I was there, and didn’t like the employees attitude when I said I Was a veteran. Employees need to stay in their lane and not voice their political views to customers. Right out the gate she was a turn off and I didn’t want to engage with her…no tip.

I met with family members from Oak Island, NC and they had eaten there many times before they moved to the beach, so we dined here. The food was delicious, enough food for another meal later. Service was excellent and food came out quickly. The place was clean and good atmosphere for BBQ. We will be returning to try some of there other menu items. I definitely recommend it.

One thing about speedy’s they have good service, this is my go to place call barbecue, they also have skins for sale. And I’d like to put skin on to my barbecue sandwich. I have been here like three times and they never disappointed me yet, the menu has good options, the food has always been tasty and my fries are always hot, plus you get your money’s worth, I got the barbecue sandwich and fried lunch special I believe it was around $8. Go check them out you won’t be disappointed tell them I sent you there.

The best around. You get your money’s worth. We ordered 2 plates and it was so much food we had to ask for 3 to-go boxes. Everyone was so friendly! Extra napkins, sauce, drinks, and dip bowls were provided without having to ask.
