We finally tried Speaks Clam Bar for the first time this past weekend. We were more so excited about the gluten-free options and fresh homemade pasta than any of the seafood. We did make a reservation in advance, as the last couple of times we tried to visit there were 1-2 hour waits.
We were seated almost immediately when we arrived. The place was already busy and it was fairly loud inside. Our server was a much older gentleman, but he was friendly throughout our meal. We started off with a few drinks and appetizers, which were all delicious. The drinks were mixed well and we even made it in time for happy hour up until 6pm. We ordered a clam chowder, mozzarella sticks and caprese salad to start. The chowder was excellent and the mozzarella sticks were huge. Both are highly recommended. The caprese salad was also good, but needed a better balance of (more) mozzarella and (less) tomatoes. For entrees, our party had the spaghetti and meatballs, rigatoni bolognese, gluten-free pasta and chicken alla vodka, and the lobster tail & shrimp pappardelle. To be honest, the consensus amongst our party was that the entrees were fine. The sauces were all kind of bland and lacked flavor. The pastas were all good though and the gluten-free pasta was delicious. Overall, the consensus was that the drinks and appetizers were 5/5, while the entrees were all rated 3/5. In general, we would still recommend visiting Speaks for a nice meal!

We found this gem of a restaurant while searching for a new foodie spot to enjoy during our regatta days. The vibe is exactly what you want in a classic clam bar, loud, lively, and full of energy, with a bustling dining room that makes the whole experience feel fun. Despite the crowds and buzz, the service was excellent: attentive, efficient, and genuinely friendly.

Really great good. The steamed clams appetizer and cold lobster roll were fantastic. If you get the clams, make sure to ask for an extra basket of bread to dip into the sauce. Our amazing waiter, Clay, recommended this to us and WOW We will definitely be returning and have already recommended this to some family who will be visiting from out of town soon.

Service was great, thank ypu Beth for the help! The food was delicious, shrimp scalop pasta thing in white wine. It is a bit on the pricey side, but not as bad as it could be. The vibe was fun and the menus are extremely creative and fun! Also try the tiramisu!

My wife and I had an outstanding first experience at Speaks Clam Bar in LWR. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. Our server Andrew was polite, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
The food was top-tier: everything came out piping hot, from the in-house made pasta to the fresh seafood. We ordered the Spinach Crab Dip, Clam Chowder, Meaty Bisque, Shrimp Scampi, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, and even a slice of Strawberry Cheesecake. Every dish was flavorful and well-executed.
The atmosphere was pleasant, though our booth seats were a bit worn and sunken in—something minor, but worth noting. The restaurant was spotless, and accessibility was no issue at all.
With a bill totaling $129 for two cocktails each, appetizers, mains, and dessert, we felt it was a great value, especially considering the quality and portions. We even appreciated that they let us order off the dinner menu during lunch.
Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

The food is absolutely amazing. I came here last year and wanted to have my birthday dinner here. The service was better the first time not to say our waitress was bad. Last year our server was absolutely phenomenal. I wish I took her name. I’ll definitely be back. The crab dip is absolutely delicious. I can say that probably everything is delicious.

We visited Speaks Clam Bar for dinner at 5pm and were able to obtain bar seats without a wait. The bartenders provided attentive service, displaying notable friendliness and a commitment to excellence. The drinks were impressive. We chose the scallop special, which was decent but lacked distinction you would expect with a “special” dish. Due to my dietary limitations, including dairy and gluten intolerance, I experienced difficulties in finding a suitable menu option. However, the staff exhibited remarkable adaptability, accommodating a lunch menu item. The Mediterranean bowl was great!

Stopped in for lunch. Service was excellent and the food was really good! I found the 2 salads exceptionally delicious! Both the Mediterranean and the Tuscan salad. The only small negative is that I find it to be very loud in there when the restaurant is busy.

First visit.. was surprised by the nice decor of the dining area! Tables and booths are offered by the Host! Appetizer was Lobster Bisque and was very tasty and creamy delicious.. We had seafood, specifically the Whole Belly Clams! Was amazing and a side was offered! Took most of it home in a take home bag! Definitely worth the visit!
