Had a great experience here last night for dinner. I sat outside with my wife and, while we enjoyed the food, the service is what will keep us coming back. The team there were personable, attentive and genuinely cared about giving their guests a great experience.
We enjoyed the Caesar salad and calamari for apps, the teres major steak and fried chicken for dinner and then the lemon cheesecakes and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake for dessert.
Our child is still just a baby but this restaurant is kid friendly but is still a good venue for couples looking for a date night. The only complaint I would have would be the people smoking outside of The Big Easy next door.

Awesome interaction. Friendly & great repo with all the customers. The cauliflower was 10/10. Steak 7/10. Clam chowder soup 8/10. Creamy Chicken Pesto Pasta 8/10, a little too heavy & creamy. Arnold Palmer drink just right . Kale Caesar Salad with fried battered chicken was 7/10. Nice interesting ambience. Decoration is superb. Wine was pretty good too. Dessert, Vanilla Ice Cream, almond slices, fudge & caramel was good too.

While visiting Sonoma and Napa for wine country we decided to stay in Petaluma. We stumbled up one this unique restaurant bar since it was open late on a Sunday night. and we were in mood for good food. The service was excellent and it was a nice cozy homey local feel. We all ordered the salmon and brussel sprouts. We also had the lobster mac (not imaged) which was delicious ! Definitely recc. There is also a little bar adjacent across the courtyard. that has live music. Will definitely choose to visit again on our next trip but during the day. The patio was so cute to enjoy sunny weather and good food.

Its a really nice place.
They are under new management so the menu is currently limited but its all very delicious. The location is also quite nice. I called for a reservation and the man on the phone was very nice and gave us a good table. He also helped accommodate my father’s birthday. Overall good place. I wish them the best under new management.

Me and my friends have been going here a long time and I know that this place has new management and hopefully they see this. My friends and I came in for a little dinner hangout, the waiter, Axel, brought us to our table and we ordered our food. One of my friends order came out wrong but we didn’t push anything and we ate our meals. Afterwards he came out with the check and I didn’t realize until after I paid, in cash, that he charged us a non-cash fee. So I went in and asked him to reimburse me and he refused, then he had the audacity to ask for a tip and I said no and we left. Lastly me and my friends were hanging out in the parking lot outside the restaurant and he walked past us and threw a comment our way. I don’t blame the owners for what happened but this is not good behavior being shown from their staff. Again, hopefully the new owners see this and take action. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

There’s something quietly captivating about Speakeasy, tucked right by Helen Putnam Plaza in historic Petaluma, that charming, walkable stretch where old-world architecture meets lively community life. The plaza itself is a lovely little park in the middle of town, perfect for strolling between shops and cafés, and it sets the stage for a meal that feels both relaxed and special.
Speakeasy has a warmth that’s hard to put into words. Its décor nods to a classic bistro, with cozy indoor nooks and lively outdoor seating spilling into the plaza where kids play and neighbors catch up. The menu is unpretentious yet thoughtful: lobster mac and cheese that’s indulgent but never heavy, burgers that satisfy more than expected, and seasonal small plates made with fresh, local ingredients.
What I love most is how authentically Petalumian it feels. This isn’t a trendy spot chasing attention- it’s a place rooted in community rhythm, layered history, and genuine hospitality. Sit outside on a warm evening, and you’ll watch the town breathe: people wandering, music drifting from nearby corners, life unfolding at a gentle pace.
For anyone exploring the walkable streets of old-town Petaluma, Speakeasy isn’t just a restaurant ,it’s a companion to your stroll, a spot to linger with wine or a cocktail, and a quiet taste of the town’s character. A must-visit for both locals and curious travelers.

I got into Petaluma after 9 and needed something to eat after working and traveling all day. Speakeasy was the only business in the downtown area still serving food. This turned out to be a nice surprise. The patio area was pleasant with plants hanging all around. There seemed to be a popular bar area as well inside. For me it was just the type of meal and quiet I needed that evening. I had a green salad and the pesto chicken pasta. It was made with fresh pesto and seasoned just right. The chicken was a nice addition giving just a little more flavor to the pasta dish. I will definitely come back if I am here in Petaluma again.

Staying in Rohnert Park for the weekend and trying to find a place to eat with a kid in tow at 10pm on a Saturday night, proved to very challenging. Luckily, I found this place. Decor is super cute. We dined inside bc it was a bit chilly. Ordered the salmon. Came with Brussel sprouts with bacon. So good. Washed it down with a grapefruit Paloma. A little too strong for me but the waiter watered it down with a bit of lemonade. Thank you for staying open “late” will definitely be back!
