We’ll definitely try it another night cause the food was amazing but there was something seriously off about the service last night. We waited almost 10 minutes at the host stand to be acknowledged, then when we were sat we had two servers come by to get our drink order, and then we waited for over 45 minutes to get our food and our server never came by with an update; I had to go to the hostess stand to ask. We didn’t get offered a drink or an app just got a snippy “the kitchen is backed up” but if the wait for food is that long at least come see if we need a refill and let us know what is happening. Food was amazing when we finally got it but it was almost an hour wait. Other tables around us got their food much faster so it kind of seemed like our order got lost and wasn’t put in until I got up to ask about it. So the servers could have done a lot more to make it right and handled that better. But we’re willing to give it another try sometime soon.

Finally made it in after over a decade of living nearby!
I always thought this spot was just part of the hotel and never realized it was a full restaurant open to the public. The entrance is a bit tucked away—you walk in like you’re heading to the hotel lobby, but just head past the front desk and you’re there.

We came on a quiet Sunday, and even though it wasn’t busy, everything was on point. The drinks were fantastic, the food was delicious, and the whole vibe was really welcoming.

I also loved all the Spaulding graduate signatures all over the walls—such a cute little hometown touch! We had so much fun reading the names and years.

Already looking forward to coming back—there were a bunch of dishes on the menu we were eyeing. Can’t wait to try more! See you soon!

Exactly the type of place we were looking for: casual, characterful, comfortable. They were warm & welcoming we enjoyed our meals; I had pasta my friend had the tacos, & the craft beer selection was good! Look forward to our next visit!.

After reading some of the reviews, I was questioning the reservation made for dinner with my dad. Well I have to say I was not expecting the night we had. It was amazing the service felt like we were with family. Thr food was absolutely fabulous. The chicken was phenomenal. We all had a very pleasant and relaxed dinner. Exceeded our expectations. Definitely going back for date night with the hubby.

We really enjoyed this joint! We had a lovely server who was on top of everything we needed, before we needed it.
The food came out very fast and was, of course, delicious.
(Bacon burger and buffalo chicken wrap)
I also really liked the complimentary popcorn!

We went here before going to the Rochester Opera House to see the Christmas Carol. It was our first time eating here. The food was excellent. The service was very slow because there was a party going on in their function room and it took a while before we got our dinners. I would highly recommend but be sure there aren’t any functions going on before you make reservations. Plenty of parking in the back and handicap accessible.

Stopped at the Spaulding Steak and Ale inside of the Governors Inn in Rochester NH for dinner with my guy. It was a fun atmosphere with a lot local high school memorabilia.
They started us off with a bowl of popcorn (I love popcorn!) that could have been more fresh.
We saw a salad on the menu with a Spicy Thai shrimp and we asked if we could just get the shrimp as an appetizer and they happily accommodated the request. I didn’t get a picture but it was very good.
I had the honey bbq chicken wrap (no onions) with the sweet potato fries. The bbq sauce was a tangy sauce that was not on the sweet side. I’m thinking it was homemade. It was good. The fries were excellent! Not salted, which I prefer. My guy ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and took half home because it was a large serving. He thought the eggplant could have been cooked more for his liking.
I appreciated the William Hill Chardonnay on the wine list and my guy enjoyed the Sam Summer on draft.
The server was very attentive and I appreciated that she asked if we were finished with our plate before reaching to take it. We were still working on those yummy fries.
After we paid, we decided to sit at the bar and have a dessert cocktail. We had espresso martinis. A little more chocolate than I’d normally expect but it was good.
If you are in the area, it’s a place I would recommend stopping and trying!
