This place is old school as far as design inside but the food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I love their bean soup (and they have it daily). My other ‘go to food’ is their BLTs with a side of fries. I’ve had their chicken wrap, chicken tenders and even sat there for breakfast with some friends. Service has always been quick and happy. If you’re looking for a cozy diner with some good food you should stop here!

Everything you look for in a classic diner. The waitress was super nice. Coffee was hot. It was clean Inside but did have a very strong cooking oil smell. The hashbrowns were cooked in oil and didn’t have any flavor to them. Price was very fair. Overall not a horrible experience, but I’m not in a rush to get back.

Came here with family. Employees all very friendly and welcoming. Took drink orders really quickly, and food came very quickly after ordering. Food itself was really good, hot to the order, lots of variety. Prices are very reasonable, especially given the serving sizes. Just note you cannot pay with Discover or American Express .

This place used to 5 stars. We drive from Lincoln park to get take out because we have been loyal to them since moving away. The food sometimes tastes like burnt cooking oil these days but the real problem is the service. Last few times I’ve been there I’ve waited way too long for refills, once I was given rotten black and moldy cream cheese for my burnt bagel, was never given a new cream cheese and still charged for the bagel. We got takeout a few times and consistently been shorted 1 meal each time. And 2 of the servers can be very rude sometimes. (Middle aged women who look to be sisters) I don’t think I’ll be going there anymore. I’ve been going there for about 14 years. But it’s almost always a bad experience now.

Little diner across from Big Boy. Figured we would give it a try because we prefer to support local owners over franchise places, so we left Big Boy and went across the street to here. The wife ordered the skillet over easy and said it was good. I ordered the large breakfast special over medium (no slime in white) they came over easy….I’ve found over my many years that very few short order cooks know how to cook eggs properly. I wasn’t as happy with my breakfast…stated home fries, but it was hashbrowns. I guess home fries definition depends on who you ask. Usually, it’s cubed potatoes to me ?

Great little family restaurant tucked away in a non-descript shopping strip. Don’t be fooled by the outside. It’s well worth your stock. Lots of regulars from the area have known the secret for years. They have a great menu with lots of selections and all their portions are very generous. We stopped for breakfast and everything was delicious. My only issue was the bathroom, it definitely needed cleaning.

My visit was on a Monday morning around 8:00. The place was almost empty.
A waitress told me to sit wherever I desired.
There were two waitresses on hand. Staff was very attentive and all neat in appearance. It had been since the spring that I had been here last. The menu had a decent choice of items. I picked the #1 Mini Breakfast Special. This included: Two eggs, Choice of meat ( I chose Ham), Grits and toast. Coffee as usual is extra. Wait time between ordering delivery was minimal. Staff paid attention and refilled my coffee twice and inquired about my meal as well. My plate appeared full due to the nice arrangement of the items. The eggs came cooked as ordered though almost over well. Whites thoroughly cooked, yolks barely releasing any yellow/orange goodness. Grits were thick but not lumpy. My two pieces of ham were heated through and lightly browned from the grill. Fat had been trimmed away. The wheat toast was nicely buttered and had some remaining butter on the tops of each slice. Coffee was average.
Atmosphere
Sparta Family Dining is located on West Road near the corner of Hall Road. There are an adequate number of tables and booths. Very plain inside with the absent televisions usually found in most places. I found the quietness nice.
Noise Level
Very quiet due to amount of customers present (7 at time of visit).
Meal
