The food was really fresh. The atmosphere was fun and fully themed in an old diner style. Very affordable prices. Subs, ice cream, cookies, and drinks. Very clean and well-kept bathrooms. The meatball sub was ok but the white bread was good. The sub with everything on it had the freshest and best tasting ingredients (tried ALL the veggies and and-ons). The bread for that sub was a little stale. I feel like with the right bread and sub-contents, it could be really great

I have eaten here many times over the years. The sandwiches are always fresh and made on the spot.
It’s an old-fashioned shop with a fountain drink machine. I like the lemon, cherries, and syrups that you can add to your soda.
The price is good, about $8.00 for an eight inch sandwich. Make it a combo with a soda, chips and cookie for less than $3.00.
The bread on my sandwich was dry today, but the made it again for me and apologized. The bread is normally soft and very good.

I recently stopped by Spanky’s Sandwich Shop in Bountiful, and I was genuinely blown away. In today’s economy, finding high-quality food at a reasonable price can be incredibly hard to find, but Spanky’s delivers exactly that.
I was immediately impressed by how fresh the ingredients were. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The bread deserves a special mention—it was super soft and yummy, the perfect foundation for a great sandwich.
Beyond the food, watching the owner work was a highlight. You can tell they make every sandwich with genuine care and skill; it’s not just “fast food,” it’s a craft.
I absolutely love this place for its unbeatable value and delicious food. I will definitely be back many more times!

I kept hearing about the “Gen Z stare” but didn’t believe it was a real thing. Then I went to Spanky’s in Bountiful. All three employees behind the counter just stared at us when we came in. No greeting, no smiling, no acknowledgment. They barely even acknowledged each other. Just standing and staring. My wife ordered a salad, which ended up just being a pile of shredded lettuce thrown into a plastic container. We weren’t asked what dressing we wanted for the salad, so we assumed there would be some on the counter with the condiments. Unless you wanted twenty different kinds of hot sauce on your salad, you’re out of luck there. We had to flag someone down behind the counter to get salad dressing. The employee we finally got to help was very nice, at least, but didn’t even know what salad dressings they had.
Also, the only free water available was carbonated. An overall bad experience and the food was not even close to good enough to save the awful customer service.

Walking into Spanky’s felt like I was transported into the 1950’s. The atmosphere was really cool. The prices are fair and they have good sandwich options. My wife ordered a turkey and pastrami sandwich. The meat was really good and the bread was fantastic. Nothing like those bigger nationwide chains where the quality dips. I got the cheesesteak. It was delicious, would definitely order it again. Sandwiches were fairly priced and there’s plenty of seating for families or parties of any size.

Lemme tell ya somethin’, capisce? I don’t hand out compliments easy. But Spanky’s? This joint’s got the kinda Philly steak that makes a guy feel like he’s back on South Street, no lie. The meat’s sliced thin like it oughta be, the roll’s got that crunch-to-chew ratio only the real pros know, and the toppins? Fuggedaboutit… perfection. I’d whack a guy for less than this sandwich, but for Spanky’s? I’d die happy. Five stars, no questions asked.

Sandwiches are not very good. Primarily the bread is horrible. It could probably be a 3 star sandwich without the terrible bread. Sub like bread but dry and too thick for the skimpy amount of meat. I got the turkey, bacon and avocado but the bacon is a limp paper thin 2 strips and 1/4 little smear of avocado. Again, not enough to overcome the thick dry bread. My husband agreed. He got the Italian. Neither of us finished because it was so dissatisfying. Cheap little cookie to top it off.

When the young woman taking our order picked up a piece of chewed gum off the food prep area and throw it away, and then use the same gloves to prepare our order, I should have left. But I didn’t. I paid the price when we got our food. The Italian beef wasn’t very flavorful, and the bread was so soft it turned to mush. It’s supposed to be a wet sandwich, but you need bread that is sturdy enough not to dissolved. They also put a TON of mayonnaise and mustard on it, so it had the flavor and consistency of a mushy deviled egg. My wife’s Philly cheesesteak was good, but her chicken noodle soup was clearly from a bag or can and was not homemade. The noodles and chicken were a weird unappetizing texture.
To top it all off, the girl taking our order also used her dirty gloved hands to work the register before moving on to the next order. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant.

An interesting experience. After a long day of painting, handyman work, and a head laceration from falling glass bowls, I was tired amd hungry. I pulled off I15 and stopped at J Mike’s. Four employees were behind the counter. Nobody else in the store. They were not working on phone orders. They were chatting. After five minutes of being ignored, We turned and walked out. We drove down the road to Spanky’s and the experience was completely the opposite. One employee was mopping the floor. He llifted his head and said “welcome in”. Two other people standing behind the counter immediately gave us their attention and made our sandwiches and pleasantly made small talk. Spanky’s, you deserve a gold star. And… the sandwiches were fantastic.
