Casual destination for hefty portions of Italian & Greek classics such as pizza, pasta & gyros.

Food was great and the portions were large. I was also surprised with how much sauce accompanied the Greek fries. The two paired up really well together especially with the seasoning on the fries and they sauce.
The staff was also really kind. They were very attentive. Only small thing is that I wished all of our meals would come out together instead of each dish coming out one by one.

My Cornell alum boyfriend came here to see if this place had stood the test of time. Happy to say that it was great! Got the steak pizzaiola and a gyro. We were very pleased. Thanks for the lovely time!

The Chicken Souvlaki platter was perfectly chargrilled to order and had a big soft pita wrap. The salad was chopped up well and the vinaigrette dressing was light and lemony. It’s a huge amount of food for one so I have some leftover for tomorrow. And I absolutely Love the Tzatziki sauce and got a generous side portion of that. Satiated.

I recently dined at this restaurant, and it was an outstanding culinary experience! The food was excellent, and every dish was more delicious than the last. We ordered a variety of dishes, including pesto pasta, tomato-based pasta, and a creamy cheese pasta – all of which were simply amazing. The portions were generous, and it was clear that each ingredient was carefully selected.
The steak (from the first photo) was juicy and perfectly cooked. The pasta dishes were rich in flavor and had an excellent texture. The pesto pasta (from the third photo) stood out, with fresh and bold flavors.
The service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend this place for a great meal!

Bang average, sometimes subpar Italian food. Pasta is not fresh hand made pasta. Quality of the oil is not great. Again for college town standards, it’s good but if it were in a city, I would pass. Workers are nice tho!

I remember Souvlaki House from when I was in college, and it’s still the same! They’ve been open for over 50 years! It’s your affordable neighborhood Greek family diner (with some Italian food as well), so I’m confused why some of these reviewers seem to be expecting fancy high-dining Greek cuisine…? The owner Christos is super nice & knows all his regulars by name. All of the employees are friendly and polite. My favorite things to get are Chicken Souvlaki on pita bread, Bifteki, and Quattro Formaggio pizza (I love how the feta adds that little bit of salt & tang on the pizza!).

Everything went downhill from the start. I ordered a lamb souvlaki, but the server repeated it back as a lamb souvlaki platter, which is a completely different item on the menu. She then told me the lamb souvlaki didn’t come with sauce and that it would be an extra charge, so I added it.
The dining experience itself was unpleasant. A child was repeatedly banging on the back of my bench throughout the meal, and nothing was done about it. On top of that, the food took at least 25 minutes to arrive.
When it finally came, the lamb in the gyro was badly overcooked, and the pizza had an excessively thick, doughy crust. The only decent dish was the pesto pasta, based on my friend’s feedback.
To make matters worse, when I went to pay at the counter after receiving a paper bill at the table, I noticed an unexpected $3 credit card fee added. When I asked about it, the server—who had been grumpy and inattentive all evening-simply said, “It says it on the back of the menu,” with no further explanation.
Overall, poor service, mediocre food, hidden fees, and an uncomfortable atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.

Review of Souvlaki House
I visited Souvlaki House with high hopes of enjoying authentic Greek cuisine, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I was especially looking forward to the Greek salad, but what was served barely resembled one. Instead of the fresh, vibrant mix you’d expect, we got a bowl of iceberg lettuce, a couple of tomatoes, three olives, and a sprinkle of cheese. It lacked the flavors and ingredients that make a true Greek salad so special.
For my main course, I ordered chicken with artichokes, which sounded delicious on the menu, but the dish didn’t live up to its description. While it wasn’t terrible, it was just average and lacked the bold, Mediterranean flavors I was hoping for.
Overall, I left Souvlaki House feeling underwhelmed. The food didn’t capture the essence of Greek cuisine, and the meal didn’t leave me with the authentic taste I was craving.

Souvlaki House is one of my favorite places to eat in Ithaca and right next to Fontana’s, which are the only two reason I go to Collegetown. I love the spicy feta dip! The moussaka is also a go-to order of mine. Recommend.

Can get busy, but staff is very friendly and attentive. Dinners come with large salad bowl & bread for the table. Large selection of pizza and pastas, and large portions. All of the food is very good. Calamari was fried perfectly (not hard or greasy). Grilled chicken was tender and delicious. Chicken Parmesan and chicken piccatti was also tender and delicious.
