You have to go. The food is GREAT, the atmosphere is so comfortable and the owner and his dog are priceless. He made my husband and I feel like we have been acquainted for ever. My first time going and my husband goes for lunch as often as he can. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Highly recommend a visit for a good sandwich

One of the best sandwiches I’ve had! Family owned place with a lot of local history and it shows. I’ll stop by whenever I’m in town.
If you’re visiting St. Louis from out of town, don’t miss this place.

Southwest offers the very best sandwiches in St Louis. Freshest most generous and tasty, all presented by the personable owner Kipp who has never met a stranger and will try to force a free home made cookie on every customer

I love Southwest Market’s Special Poorboy Sandwich. It’s great! They get so busy, though, and there was the guy working the counter, and I only saw one person making sandwiches. I waited longer than 1/2 hour after I had already called my order in.

Great place for lunch. Sandwiches are loaded and fresh made to order no skimping here. The 3 1/2 Italian (pictured) is more like 7 inches long and plenty for one person. No comparison to the chain sub restaurants. Since the pandemic it’s take out only.

The owner of this place is one of the most genuine individuals you will ever meet. It’s been many years since I’ve stepped foot into these doors and it felt like I never left.
Also, the food is absolutely amazing.

I hadn’t been here since I was in high school, and it use to be a favorite of my dad and mines. I came back today taking my husband and daughter for the first time and it was still just as incredible and delicious as I remember. Amazing service, best sandwich, and the perfect cookie to top it off. If you haven’t been you’re missing out on a classic St. Louis staple.

After a two-month hiatus from dining out thanks to a buttery turntable incident with a DJ (don’t ask), I was craving a sandwich. But not just any sandwich – I was on the hunt for the elusive perfect Reuben. So I ventured out from my hermit cave and wandered into the bustling deli world of the Hill. After what felt like a trek of epic proportions, I stumbled upon Southwest Market Cuisine.
The moment I walked in, I was hit with the inviting scent of fresh deli meats and maybe some imaginary potato salad. That’s the kind of deli aroma that speaks to my soul. As I approached the counter, the gentleman informed me that they had sold out of their homemade meatballs – a gut-wrenching blow, to be sure. But no matter, I had my sights set on the Reuben.
I placed my order and eagerly awaited the arrival of my sandwich, envisioning a masterpiece that would satisfy my hunger pangs. And lo and behold, there it was – a glorious Reuben piled high with corned beef, sauerkraut, gooey melted cheese, and a generous drizzle of Thousand Island dressing, all sandwiched between marbled rye bread. It was worth the wait.
I raced home and devoured the delectable creation in record time, slipping into a delightful food coma on my couch. As I drifted off, I dreamt of another Reuben from Southwest Market Cuisine. I’ll definitely be making a return visit soon – after all, a sandwich that good deserves an encore.
