The small burger is simple, thin, and delicious, with the bun lightly toasted.
The zucchini fries are definitely worth a try!
They’re battered and fried to a crisp perfection. Dip those in ranch or their famous white sauce. You won’t regret it.
I also like their slaw dogs.

Good news, a new owner has been located for this restaurant and the food is just as good.
My review was accurate and I loved this place but due to the economy Russell closed his restaurant for good at 2pm on August 12th, 2022. It will be missed!
Russell, the owner and cook, oversees everything and maintains quality and taste. Their BBQ Chicken is some of the best chicken around and often sells out. The BBQ is also very good as is their chili. Whether you get corn nuggets or fries as your side The South’s Best BBQ is not only a name but a goal and remains one of the best BBQ restaurants in the Shoals area.

I stopped by today and had a Jumbo Hamburger. I used to work there for a minute . My burger was absolutely perfect. The bun was lightly toasted, warm throughout and condiments spread perfectly . It left me hungry for another one.
I promise there is no where you can go to have a perfect burger, cooked to order, in the Shoals.

Ordered my lunch an hour before my lunch time. I got there, waited in line to pick it up only to find out they never turned my order to be in to be cooked. The new owner and management really dropped the ball. If you want to make sure you have a chance to eat lunch, don’t order from here. Update: The owner made everything right by me. Bought my lunch for me and apologized. All is good!

I ordered the pork plate with baked beans and potatoe salad. It was not flavorful at all, I tolerated it but threw most of it away. Understanding there’s new management, maybe a good idea to flavor up the recipes. Also I noticed management will not refund you if your food doesn’t taste good at this establishment.

The food and service seemed a lot better with the previous owners. We came in a hour before closing time and the girl working the front seemed really annoyed we walked in (as well as everyone else who walked in afterwards). She repeatedly said “I’m so ready to leave”. Not something to say when you have customers in the restaurant. Very off putting.
I got the hot sauce on my bbq and it was DRENCHED in sauce, the sauce was red/pink like it was going to be hot but it tasted sweet and really vinegary.
Giving 3 stars only because my fries were really hot and delicious(if it wasn’t for that it would be much less) My husband enjoyed his food and their tea is still very good.

I have no complaints about this place that I have been visiting since I was a little girl. It’s always packed with happy and friendly people. The food is quick, easy, and satisfying. When you step in you’ll get the feeling of southern comfort surrounded by strangers chatting like they’ve known each other for years. Overall amazing experience and atmosphere.

When I think of BBQ in the Shoals this is where I always land. I grew up eating South’s Best (formerly Southern), every Saturday for as long as I can remember (when they served on Saturday). They always welcome me back every time I stop in. In fact, they actually served the BBQ at my engagement party because my wife and I love it so much.
In my opinion, they have THE BEST hamburger in the Shoals bar none. It is for sure my #1 pick for a burger. Crazy to think a BBQ place has a great burger, but I tell everyone about it. The rest of the food is awesome as well. From BBQ to Chicken Sandwiches and Sweet tea to Lemonade, you can not go wrong if you want a taste of what the Shoals has to offer. Great food, friendly staff, and happy bellies all around!
