Had a wonderful dinner at SouthPort Kitchen + Bar in Rye, NH. The hospitality truly stood out—Dairine behind the bar is a cocktail artist & fabulous host, & waitress Kerry was sweet as pie. It’s refreshing to dine somewhere with such caring staff. We started with a Hot & Dirty Martini & a Lemon Drop, both perfectly executed. The fried Brussels sprouts with pork belly & goat cheese were a standout—crispy, rich, & perfectly balanced. For entrées, he had the lamb chops, cooked & seasoned beautifully, served with delicata squash & a delicious sweet potato purée. I ordered the osso buco with chive polenta, & the meat fell right off the bone. Both dishes were even hand-delivered by Chef Adam JumpTown. The Bordeaux cherry martini special was excellent, & the mochaccino martini was the perfect dessert. Owners Aaron & Carrie run a great restaurant, & kudos to the entire kitchen staff. Exceptional food, great cocktails, & warm hospitality—Southport Kitchen is absolutely worth a visit. We’ll have to check out their new venture The Inn at Rye Place next door in the very near future!

I was finally able to snag a reservation at SouthPort for my husband and me on our anniversary. It was surprisingly packed with people on a Tuesday night, and for good reason. The interior is warm, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. The atmosphere was very fun and loud. The televisions showcase old-school music videos playing – exciting compared to other restaurants that stick to sports. The service was attentive; our waitress had great recommendations that we look forward to eating when we return.
The menu has a variety of salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and other options. Their appetizers were quite inventive. We tried the Tuna Tostones – the flavors of avocado and soy sauce complemented each other perfectly and had us wanting to pick the plate clean. It was some of the freshest tuna I have had in the area. For our mains, we split a couple of pizzas, which were excellent. They are made to be well-done, which gives them the perfect crunch. One of them was slightly overcooked, but tasty and palatable nonetheless. We can’t wait to return to try some of their pasta dishes.
Overall, I am excited that the Seacoast area has this slightly new addition. I highly recommend them, but make a reservation in advance; tables are hard to come by.

We were there for happy hour. Food was great truffle shuffle sandwich and the sticky ribs great… My only complaint is that my wife ordered a house Chardonnay and what she got after the bill came was the most expensive Chardonnay that was not on the happy hour menu. So instead of $8 for a glass it was $15

Southport Kitchen & Bar feels like the kind of restaurant every neighborhood wishes it had. Carrie & Aaron Jones have created a space that’s welcoming without trying too hard—equal parts polished and comfortable, with genuine hospitality at the center of everything. The food is thoughtful and crave-worthy, the service is attentive without being rushed, and the room has an easy energy that makes you want to stay for one more round. It’s the rare spot that works just as well for a casual weeknight dinner as it does for a special night out. You can tell this place was built with heart.

What a cozy place to be on a winter night! Ample parking and a friendly greeting as soon as we entered. The vibe is busy, vibrant and welcoming. TVs with music and sports, a busy bar, and high top and regular tables all with little lamps. Our waitress Colleen was a most caring and accommodating soul – she made suggestions, understood food allergies, and came back to check on us just enough times. We had tempura cauliflower and French Onion Soup for apps, prepared gluten free. The soup was especially good with a fresh herbal flavored broth (not too salty as many are). Entrees were Atlantic haddock and smash burger – both so delicious. Perfect side dishes of asparagus and whipped potatoes. I didn’t have room for dessert but note there’s nothing gluten free on the menu for dessert. That’s the only suggestion I’d make. All in all a perfect dinner and so we will be back and also suggest Southport to friends.

Been wanting to try this place and finally did. Immediately the vibe and decor felt like California coastal with its ivy walls, lights, gas flame lanterns and colors throughout. Our waitress was phenomenal and very attentive. The menu had so many items of interest for me that I had a hard time choosing my meal but ultimately ended up with the beef stroganoff and it was phenomenal! I’m not a salad girl but the harvest salad was one of the best salads I’ve had. This restaurant will definitely be added to my list of go-to spots. Highly recommend!

We had such a great dinner here. Our server, I think her name was Terri, was so friendly and made the experience even better. The dumplings were amazing to start. I had the braised beef short rib and honestly wouldn’t change a thing about it, I’d love to try other menu items when I come back but it will be hard not to order it again, it was perfect. My husband had the chicken parm and said it was the best he’s ever had! We can’t wait to come back!

Don’t walk….run, after making your reservation!!! I have tried to walk in hoping to get a seat or table, there’s a reason this place is packed all the time.
The ambience is perfect, great classic rock music playing, the pizza oven visible, the faint conversations and laughter in the air as the servers float across the floor.
The food was cooked to perfection. We started with our servers favorite app after being undecided, they all sounded so delicious. Batter was refreshingly crispy, lightly coated in sauce over a delicious slaw. Well balanced.
Dinner entrees…Coconut Curry Salmon and Shrimp and Grits. The salmon was perfectly cooked, vegetables were fresh and firmly cooked, with a light sauce and the water chestnuts added the perfect crunch. Shrimp and grits…..spice was exactly what to expect with a southern favorite dish. The grits oh the grits, absolutely divine and topped with the most amazing Demi glacé I’ve ever tried.
Drool-worthy dishes, ABSOLUTELY!!!

If you’re visiting Portsmouth, NH, this restaurant is an absolute gem worth the short 15-minute drive. It’s a popular spot, so reservations are recommended. but we decided to try our luck with a walk-in. To our delight, the hostess (who we later learned is also the owner) greeted us with warmth and went out of her way to rearrange seating so we could be accommodated. Her hospitality set the tone for a wonderful evening.
The ambiance is cozy and relaxed, perfect for casual dining. The food? Outstanding. We ordered a pizza and the chicken marsala, both were exceptional, easily earning five stars in our book.
The staff were equally impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Service was top-notch throughout. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious food and heartfelt hospitality near Portsmouth.
