Beautiful restaurant. Large bar area included. Hot and sour soup very tasty. The shashimi platter was spot on with bonus seaweed wrapped fish and rice it was super filling and satisfying. Enjoyed every bite. Will be a local favorite!

I have no idea how I forgot to post a review when we visited on Oct 1 2025. I wanted sushi while we were on our honeymoon/birthday/family trip and I researched the area. I stumbled across Southport Gourmet and Sushi and I am so glad we chose to visit. I got an amazing roll along with 2 pieces of tuna nigiri and my husband got his usual shrimp tempura. The rolls were excellent and satisfied my need for my fav food. I would highly recommend stopping in. Our server was super nice and helpful, she recommended the roll I got as I wanted to try something new and it did not disappoint. Price was reasonable and would definitely eat here again the next time we are in southport. We felt welcomed and super cozy atmosphere

It’s been a rough few weeks for small business owners in Southport since the storm and local road issues haven’t helped. The other day instead of waiting in traffic I stopped in to check on a friend & fellow restaurant owner at Southport Gourmet and Sushi Bar. Like me at The Saucy Southerner their daily business has been greatly affected and I had an idea I offered the owners. I decided to put together a night with friends and let the restaurant show off a little! Let me tell you!! They showed off big time and made us the most amazing meal!! Our group ate until we couldn’t eat any more, and then we ate more!! Everything was fresh, great service and the food was delicious!!! From the sensational appetizers to kick things off, to the second course of some delightful fresh sushi boats and then finished it off with some of their favorite items!! All around we all had a wonderful time and we’re grateful to be able to support a local small business during these challenging times. The best part was we beat all the traffic issues, had quality time with friends and made the night a little better for everyone involved! Get out there and support local small businesses and slow down a little. Live life and have fun!!

This place was great. Between the three of us dining last night, we had crab Rangoon, shrimp egg rolls, pork egg rolls, California roll, salmon avocado roll, chicken lo mein, and the poke bowl. We were all really satisfied with what we ordered. The service was fast and friendly, portions were decent size, and the prices were reasonable. I ordered a mojito and it was alright but not great, but that would be my only gripe about the whole experience.

This place was surprisingly the best food and service I have had in years. Everything was delicious and our waitress was kind, fast and had great suggestions for good menu items. We now have a new favorite Asian place and that is no small feat.

My husband and I were on a date night and decided to give it a go. We got sat around 530pm. We waited about 15 minutesbefore our server came to the table. We ordered everything all at once thinking it’d come to the table all at once but unfortunately it didnt. 30 minutes later the our crab ragoons showed up and a salad. Ragoons were hot and fresh. My husband got 2 sushi rolls and I got the hibachi steak, waited 30ish more minutes for them to come out. The veggies tasted frozen and the rice was cold and also tasted frozen, my steak was over cooked and my husband’s sushi was bland. My husband finished everything off cause he cant stand to see food go to waste. The server never refilled our waters. We got our check at 655pm. While sitting we noticed a bus boy wearing a Yummy House t-shirt. Wild attire advertising to competition or partnership. 2 stars for the crab ragoons though.

Sushi was good. Soups were ok, salad was ok. The entrees were not good. Chicken Mei Fun bland, chicken was not fresh and was dry textured like processed meat similar to a military MRE. Sesame chicken had nearly no chicken. Was fried dough balls covered in sauce and seeds with not a sliver of the MRE chicken inside. None of the 3 of us ate our entree. I will only consider returning for sushi. Doubtful.
