Nice little diner with great breakfast food, good aesthetics, and a fun waiter. It almost felt like I was visiting a family member’s house that I hadn’t seen in a long time. If I lived here, this would be a regular place for me.

We met old friends at this cozy, comfortable restaurant in downtown Alachua. After consulting the wall menu, with reasonable prices for everything, we ordered at the counter. Our friends paid cash, but we tapped to pay our bill with a credit card.
The food came in a reasonable time – hot and great to look at. Everything was delicious! My friend and I had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken. We agreed that it was so good! His wife had the grilled cheese with fries and Husband had the double smash cheeseburger with fries. Both must have been good because neither left anything on their plates!
The young woman who brought our food and cleared our table was pleasant and efficient. Next time we visit our friends, we want to come back here for lunch!

Food was amazing… like really really good. Like better than chili’s. Service was great.
I would say hidden gem but the locals all seem to already know.

We stopped in for breakfast this morning. Southern Taste is located in the heart of the historic district of Alachua Florida. The food very good and the prices were great. Kristi had the Chicken and Waffles while i had the original. The waffle and chicken were delicious as was the original.

I’ve eaten here three times and had the special each time the smashburger was the best I’ve ever had. My friend had the fried chicken sandwich. Huge chicken. Awesome. Fries were awesome too.

I love supporting small businesses, especially restaurants, because you can always tell how much care and passion go into what they do. Southern Taste is no exception. We visited on a quieter day and were greeted by a welcoming employee who got us settled right away.
First off, the atmosphere—it has that perfect blend of old-time charm with a modern touch, like a classic Southern spot you’d find out in the country. Now, the food? Phenomenal. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I had a burger and fries, and both were spot on. The burger tasted incredibly fresh, the fries had just the right amount of seasoning, and we also tried the corn nuggets and fried green tomatoes, which were great.
For the quality of the food, the prices are very reasonable. I’m already looking forward to coming back and bringing more people to try it!

We just tried Southern Taste for the first time. I got the House Double Smash burger with fries and my wife got the kids Smash with okra. The Smash burgers were excellent- great sear, fresh ingredients, and perfect bread. Fries were great and the okra was the best I’ve had in a long, long time (maybe ever) – lightly breaded and not runny. Staff are very friendly. I look forward to coming back and trying other items in the menu.

Southern Taste in Alachua knows how to do Southern cooking right! I stopped by and tried their fried pork chop sandwich, and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. The pork chop was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside—served on soft bread that brought it all together. Absolutely delicious!
I also had the fried green tomatoes, and they were amazing—crispy, tangy, and full of flavor. The breading had the perfect crunch without being too heavy, and they paired perfectly with the dipping sauce.
The food here tastes homemade, and the service is warm and welcoming. If you’re craving real Southern comfort food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Best breakfast in Alachua!! Recently found this place on my way home from work and so glad I did. Everyone is super nice here and the chicken biscuit is way better than anything you’ll get at Chic fil A or major chains. I tend to support local and will definitely put the word out.
