Southern Sun Pub and Brewery is part of the Mountain Sun family of unpretentious neighborhood gathering places. At each of our pubs, our mission is to offer five-star service, fresh, high-quality pub fare, and finely crafted brews for affordable prices in an environment that’s comfortable, like your living room. There will never be televisions at our pubs because we want our guests to meet and discuss the world in which we live or simply play Scrabble. Our house-made beers have won medals across the globe, including six gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, the world’s largest beer festival. And over the years, our brew pubs have consistently been voted the best in Boulder and Denver in the local media.

I wish there were more stars to give this place! Absolutely love Southern Sun. The food is outstanding. Especially the build your own grilled cheese. Doesn’t sound that exciting I know, but YUM!! Hubby really likes the chips & salsa and their vegan chili. Staff is always welcoming and happy. Yes it is cash only, but the ATM is only a $1 fee. If you go after 9 they have half price mini pitchers every day.

I was so impress with the chips in the Mountain Sun pearl branch that i return to the sister branch, Southern Sun on Broadway.
Chips turn out to be over fried (very dark colored), with a burnt bitterness.
However, kind enough to provide wirh another batch which is much lighter and with much less seasoning.

I’ve been coming to Southern Sun since 2012 and usually have an decent experience, but today was disappointing. The food was great, but the service was very lacking.
We had to ask for kids’ menus, our kids’ drinks were forgotten, and we didn’t get water until we asked—after our beers arrived. Our appetizer took about 30 minutes and only came after we checked on it, and our food took around 50 minutes total. The server was nice but very forgetful and needed multiple reminders.
Even getting an extra to-go box required asking three different employees. They did comp our drinks due to the long wait, which we appreciated, but coming in after the lunch rush, we expected better, especially as long-time customers.

I stopped here to grab beers with a friend for their birthday and I love the beer selection.
I do think it’s a downside to be cash only and I feel like not having assigns waitresses made it confusing because someone would take our order but then someone else would bring it and not know who ordered what and be confused often.
Overall chill atmosphere, good beer, will have to try the food sometime.

Cauliflower bites were EXCCELLENT, not even a vegetarian but was sooo good! Burgers and house made fries were excellent, & Speak to me Session IPA to wash it all down was perfect! Good view of the mountains and plenty of room at the tables for everyone.

I’ve been coming here since 2008! Laid back spot for drinks and food a little outside of downtown Boulder. The service is always really friendly, but timeliness ranges from super prompt to on the slow side depending on servers. Not a huge deal when you’re hanging with good company, but could be smart to order your next drink when you receive one if it’s the latter situation. The burgers, vegan chili, wings, cauliflower wings, quesadilla, and poutine hand-cut fries are all good! Relaxed vibe and family friendly with indoor and outdoor seating. Great spot post hike or ski day!

We had a good time eating at this place, but the description was a little misleading. When we read great view of the Flatiron Mountains, we didn’t expect to see them seated in the parking lot of a shopping center with the mountains on the other side of the shopping center. We thought there would be an open deck in the back with an unobstructed view of nature. Overall the food was good and tasty with a good selection of craft beer. The buffalo cauliflower was really good. We sat outside, but the inside is huge, nice and clean. The staff is excellent! Very helpful and accommodating. Overall a thumbs up!

Menu said we have 90 minutes maximum from the time we sit down to when we HAVE to leave. I asked if this was true. The waitress said no it’s not true. Well. After about that time. After spending over $90 on food and drinks. A waitress came over and said we had to move to the couches because there were children and a family of 12 waiting. This was really upsetting to my party of 6.
Definitely will not be coming back. Oh! And it’s cash only! They have an ATM but they will let you know 6x it’s cash only.

I came here because my friend who moved here said the burgers were good AND THEY WERE!! However I’m giving this place only 2 stars due to extremely poor service (took forever to get our food, the server barely checked in and one of my friend’s orders came wrong and it took 30 mins and 3 different servers to correct the issue, also the fact that they only take cash is another set back. I’m big on apple pay so yeah, good food but definitely establishment/service needs improvement.

By far my favorite place we ate at during our visit in Boulder! The staff were all super laid back, kind, and quick to service. I had one of the best burritos I’ve had in recent memory, a margarita that was incredibly refreshing, and all while having a fabulous view of the mountains. Highly recommend sitting on the patio if the weather is nice. Only unideal callout is it is cash only but they do have access to an ATM if you don’t have any with you.
