On a Saturday, we had the buffet… wanted something quick. 1:15 lunch. 2 adults $30.90 cash…Food options were minimal and most of the vegetables were from a can. Fresh cabbage, not sure about the beef stew. Meat loaf was not to my liking tiny fried shrimp and over cooked and over breaded fish filets were too salty. Best thing was the fried chicken. When you walk in You can tell the restaurant has been here for a while. It definitely needs some updating but having said that the service was great They’re very friendly. The food was wonderful Probably some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had and the sweet tea was outstanding as well.

We stop here on our way to and from the beach. It is more than worth the price and was less that 3 miles from the highway. This is Southern home style food like grandma cooked. They have a great selection of meats, vegetables, salad bar items and desserts. I give this place my strongest recommendation. This is a beach trip tradition for us.

Keep away from this restaurant. Please read the entire review. The cook was beating our frozen porterhouse steaks on a stainless steel table in an attempt to separate them. When he couldn’t beat them apart, I watched him throw them across the kitchen into a sink. I asked the young lady at the register if he was going to cook those steaks? She said “No they are no good he won’t cook them”. To which I wondered why make a huge scene trying to break them apart if they are “no good”? A few minutes later I saw him running water over them and then holding them against his filthy shirt and trying to pry them apart with his bare hands. I am not exaggerating it was crazy how he was behaving with our frozen steaks. We were with friends who already had their food. They said it was cold and couldn’t eat it because it was just disgusting. The salad bar was old and there was no lettuce. We left and asked for our money back. Believe me when I tell you it was that bad. We looked for the sanitary rating and could not find it posted anywhere. This was a Saturday around 5 or 6 pm and the place was empty except for us a 2 other tables. Oh the cubed ham at the salad bar was brown also. There was much more than I care to go into like how everyone except the highschool age kids working there looked high on pain pills. The manager was about to fall asleep while we were complaining. Oh my God you just can’t understand how unbelievably crazy it was in there. The restaurant is filthy also the cook was filthy and everyone over 18 years old was high on something. How you gonna be falling asleep while I’m telling you your dirty cook was beating my steak on the counter like a caveman? Every review that says the food is good or great is fake. It’s so bad that it might actually be worth a trip there just to see how awful it is. If you go, record everything and post it.

We have lived in the area for a while and hate that it’s taken us this long to try this place! Everything my wife took a bite of she said how good it was and I agree. My kids loved it as well. Staff is very friendly and we most definitely will be back! 🙂

Me and my husband’s Thursday night dinner date place!! We love their 2 for $25 steak deal (2 steaks both with fries or baked potato and salad/desert bar)…so good!!
The cook is WONDERFUL! So friendly and always greets us when he sees us come in. When he isn’t too busy he even comes over and checks on everything at our table. He cooks the BEST steak (tender, juicy and flavorful) we have ever ate and it is ALWAYS cooked exactly how we ask!!! Our waitress is great also, she makes sure our cups stay filled and always ask if we want a to go cup. Even when it is busy she is always very prompt on taking care of our needs. If we could give them 10 stars we would!!!! You have to try Southern Sizzler!!!!!!! Their consistently great food and great customer service keeps us going back time after time.
