Second time here. Legends of Rock. Pretty good show but too loud for an old fart. Band was really good, engaging audience, etc. Covered some really good tunes. Crowd really into it and a good time was had by all.

We had an amazing lunch today on the patio at Southern Roots Tavern in McDonough! We just recently moved to the area, and this was one of our first local spots—and they made us feel so welcome! The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a sunny afternoon.
We started with the jalapeño strawberry margarita—the perfect mix of sweet and spicy—and shared the cheese fries and pretzel bites, which were both delicious and great for snacking. For our mains, the Roots Burger and the Goin’ Clubbin’ sandwich were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
Our server was friendly and attentive, and the manager, D, personally stopped by our table to check in and make sure everything was just right. She even invited us back for the live music they’re hosting tonight, which was such a thoughtful touch.
Definitely a spot we’ll be returning to—great food, great drinks, and even better hospitality. So glad we found this place so early on!

My oldest wanted to come here for her birthday dinner. Nothing major just dinner with family. I already expected prices were going to be high based on being a live venue – even if we are not there during the live event.. We showed up just before 6pm just to eat. Love the atmosphere, the design and the staff. Our waitress was on point and made no mistakes or had any problems. Food came timely, little disappointed in the majority of the onion rings being stuck together – hard to share with the table and small amount for the price. The fried dill pickles were perfect. 5 people in our party, food came out together. However the burgers were a big let down. Extremely overcooked, and tasted burnt and dry. Fries were good but just on the edge of being over done. Salad done well. Still I expected more. Might come back for the appetizers but about it.

I submitted an email inquiry to host about 20 people for a birthday party – we had never been here before. Dee and team did a fantastic job accommodating us! The food was tasty and hot and came out quickly. Drinks were good. Our server was very attentive and nailed our orders. They even offered us a table for a Godsmack cover band that night. We were able to decorate some and bring our own cupcakes. Thank you for a great first experience! The wicked chicken is 10/10. The ONLY comment I have is it was slightly dark in there for it to be mid day but that is okay!

Last night was our second time coming to southern roots. It is an awesome building/ venue with a great set up for live music. We went last night for the Georgia Country Music Awards and bought a table upstairs (all that was left). Unfortunately they did not turn on any of the speakers upstairs so all we could hear was the distorted audio from the live performance downstairs. I asked the servers multiple times to get the speakers turned on but no one would help us out. Further disappointment came when we ordered a Caesar salad and added fried chicken. The additional fried chicken was an extra $8 on top of the price of the salad. No problem I thought, it must be a good portion of fried chicken. Unfortunately, when the salad arrived they brought the chicken on the side and it appeared to be a small chicken tender cut up in to little tiny pieces. I understand it was a busy night but the upstairs wasn’t all that packed and we found the service sub par. Someone at our table had to ask for ranch twice, and the server finally brought it after everyone was finished with their meals. Our experience at southern roots was less than stellar.

DO NOT WASTE MONEY HERE. My husband and I went before Thanksgiving. We spent maybe $60 or so on food, no drinks. The waitress was absent. I literally walked up to the bar to get our refills. The food was whatever. My frozen chicken tenders were okay, and my husband said his order was a bit bland. Fries were good though!
We left a blazer there and I asked if I paid for shipping if they would send it to us the next state over. That was the first blazer my husband was able to purchase in a long time and it has sentimental value. I was told the owner would reach out, but they never did. Maybe that’s an unfair request on my part, but the service sucked and the food sucked regardless. Don’t waste your money here. There are plenty of other bars selling crappy food and shitty concert seats.

I let my kids choose what they wanted to eat and they chose Southern Roots. We were ignored and never greeted by ANYONE. There was 3 workers at the bar and no one cared to even look our way. Mind you there was only 1 table in the entire restaurant. We waited at the table 15 minutes and no one came to our table at all and therefore had to leave. Very disappointed! I felt very much discriminated!

I wish I’d taken photos but unfortunately it didn’t even cross my mind. My sister and I got the Tavern Fries, and we each got the Roots Burger. The literal only thing was that the cheese on the Tavern Fries wasn’t melted at all whatsoever. But the bacon and onions on them were great.
Their burgers we good and juicy, sauce was good and plenty do veggies on them. The actual fries themselves were great. They have good fries!! Our service was great, quick, and kind.
Overall would be back!

I have been here for poker, dueling pianos and just a meal out and I give that 5 stars, across the board but this review is specifically for my experience in being a part of renting the venue for a private party/fundraiser event – what an AMAZING place this was for our party!! The staff is excellent! They were highly professional yet refreshingly down to earth. They patiently guided us through the many steps to pull off a memorable event and were so helpful through the whole process! The food, servers & ambience were GREAT and the price was very affordable! Southern Roots will be my go to for future events that I throw and I recommend them for any party! I learned that they even do full weddings! What a great place for a fun Sunday wedding venue!

Stopped by for a late Friday lunch. Quiet time of day with just us two and a few people at the bar. Servers and bartender were super chill and attentive. Small menu selection and we tried/split the chicken fingers tossed in lemon pepper dry rub and the going clubbin’ Turkey club sandwich. The fingers were OK but the sandwich was amazing on super juicy (buttery) Texas toast with Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. So good!
