So what do you do if you are craving some collard greens. You hop in the car and drive 2hrs to Elkin NC. This place is amazing. Collards are some of the best I’ve ever had. The shrimp and grits were to die for. The pulled pork was awesome. Ohh and the deviled eggs, some of the best ever.

Enjoyed some southern hospitality at Southern On Main. You had me at Fried Green Tomatoes! There was the sweetest dog named Ginger that seemed to be everyone’s favorite guest. It was a nice night to eat outside. Overall good experience. I would go back.

Had lunch here recently with my boyfriend and we had a great time! Friendly host, nice bartender, and really good food.

They even have a nice outdoor space too!

I recommend the fried green tomatoes and the chicken pot pie!

Very cool space, friendly people, and interesting menu. Really liked the Brussels sprouts and the choices of local wines. However, service was rather slow, and the consistency of food over the same order wasn’t perfect. Would recommend going here, just know that Saturday nights are very busy and service could be delayed.

My husband & I ate lunch here. The Reuben sandwich was touted as hearty. It was NOT!! It had scant meat & Sauerkraut, no thousand island dressing that we could see and was a very THIN sandwich. The general appearance of the sandwich was thrown together with little effort or thought. Horrible food, adequate service and so DISAPPOINTING!!!

Cozy, somewhat dark, atmosphere. Very friendly waitress. We had their brussel sprout appetizer, chicken pasta and shrimp and grits.

Great place. Just was very busy when we arrived. We came back and had a table. But server not very attentive. Food was good, but massive portions that were beyond appetite reality. I had better, but it was good and prices a tad steep. Worth stopping in if your hungry, just be warned it’s hard to get a table at dinner, even on a Tuesday.

We stopped in on Sunday for lunch while in town. We didn’t realize we would have the worst experience in a restaurant in awhile. Several tables walked in ahead of us, and several were behind us. The host decided he would ask everyone how many was in each party, before he decided who fat sat when. An 8 top was behind us, so they got sat first because “sorry everyone they have 8 so I’m seating them first”. When he came back he asked us all again how many in each party. He asked who wanted to sit upstairs, one table volunteered, out of order so off they go. He next asked who wanted to sit outside, one table said they would, but he wouldn’t let them because “we only sit 2 tops outside”. So they asked if he could clean off a table (there were 4 dirty tables we all could see), so they could be seated. He moved the dirty dishes from that table to another dirty table and sat them. He came back and asked everyone again how many in each party. Oh here comes a 10 top, so “sorry I have to seat them first everyone!”, and off they go. We finally got seated, he moved dirty dishes again to another dirty table. A family of 4 had been waiting behind us, and he told them “I’m gonna have to make you wait while. Our servers need a break, it’s been too busy here today. I’ll be back after while”. And just walked off! Several servers walked by them numerous times, presumably on their way to that much needed break, and told them someone would seat them soon. They finally left after 25min. When he did come up front he would tell everyone how tired he was, and that it had been too busy. He even begged people to sit at the bar because “I’m just so tired from running around!”.
Now the food. I asked the waitress if the chicken pot pie had a lot of chicken or a little. Because I don’t like a bowl filled with just chicken. She assured me that “oh no, it’s just a FEW VERY SMALL cubes of chicken”. Great I’ll take that. Imagine my shock when I get it, and it’s nothing but hunks of boiled chicken. I had maybe 2 peas and 2 small cubs of carrots. Topped off not with a fluffy biscuit, but with a weird rubbery pastry. My mom ordered the meatloaf and was given what we assume was Salisbury steak. We couldn’t tell anyone because the food was tossed onto the table as she flew by, I’m guessing on her way to that much needed break. No one. Checked on us until the bill was dropped off in the same fly by fashion. Save your time and your money and go anywhere else, unless you like standing around waiting on cold food that you didn’t order, because all of the staff need a much needed break from their job of serving people during their work hours. I mean, the audacity of all of us wanting to eat while they are working.

The food was absolutely wonderful: our server Aubrey was attentive and made great recommendations while she provided great service. We stumbled upon this place randomly but couldn’t be happier, lots on the menu but highly recommend the filet steak; it also has a delicious Gorgonzola cream sauce to die for. The place is actually a reformed old building. Over 100 years old, romantic and charming. Will definitely return if in town.
