The collard greens, red beans and rice, and pulled pork were VERY DELICIOUS!! The atmosphere and service gave a sense of real southern hospitality. When you come by Guyton, you have to try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed, PERIOD.

All of the good reviews are old. Here’s how we got here: I ordered a plate with 2 pieces of meat and 3 sides with a sliver of cake and my meal was $25 before tip (No Drink). +thoughts: “I was in a cafeteria style restaurant. I wasn’t served at my table, who am I tipping?”-
The problem is that I’ve been coming here since 2017. Back then, there were older ladies who actually did the cooking and had pride in the food. Now, I go in there and see a cheerleading squad with the coach. I recommend bringing back the old ways of doing soul food restaurants. I didn’t want to go to wild wings with sushi prices. The food tasted like the standard “Soul” food, yeah, but It has lost it’s charm. I expect better for that kind of money. It’s just my opinion.

I purchased takeout from this restaurant for the first time today. I had the dark meat baked chicken with cabbage and brunswick stew. I am very picky especially with the way things are seasoned. Everything was great. The chicken was so tender and juicy, sides were good and the plain cornbread was tasty. I also got the pulled pork with creamed corn and cabbage for my husband. His meal was great as well. Prices are good especially for the portion of food that you get. I can’t wait to go back and try the oxtails and Seafood!

Ordered the broil and the taste was amazing! Also tasted the crab cake and hush puppies and Mac & cheese. Everything was great! Would recommend! The place smelled great since they had a candle on and the bathrooms were really clean! 10/10

OMG………….. !!!!! The food was so delicious!!! Was visiting in a town nearby (about 20 mins drive) and had a taste for some Soul Food. When I tell you this joint hit the spot ———— I Ain’t Lying! lol Because I lived about 30 minutes drive away, I ordered two plates (was able to make 3+ meals from them). I ordered oxtails over rice, collard greens, mac n cheese on one plate and baked chicken, creamed corn, and collard greens on the other. The plates also came with corn bread. For dessert, I ordered some peach cobbler! Going to try & make it a thing and take that 30 minutes drive one weekend out of the month to indulge in this treasure of a place. Well worth it!

What I really enjoyed about this place (aside from how good the food tasted) is how easy it was. You’ve got the food behind the glass; you pick a meat and two sides; cornbread is included. It’s a simple process with a delicious outcome, and you know as soon as you walk in that the restaurant is a local favorite and a place where a lot of love and attention are put every day. It was a truly local place and a great plate of food.

I work in the area and eat breakfast here 1-2 times a week. The restaraunt is hit and miss. But over 4 years I’ve found out how to tell which it will be. If the gentleman is working the food will be good. If the madam is working the food will not be.

Decided when we passed this was a few days ago that we would stop on the way back. Will not be a single visit!! We absolutely loved it. I went high carb but my friend and I shared each other’s sides. Hands down the best I’ve had! It was literally melt off the bone and we’ll seasoned. Didn’t grab one condiment, salt or pepper. Tracy (husband/owner) very meekly came out to ask how everything was. Very sweet and loved the humbleness in his demeanor. After we mentioned how wonderful the food was he got a magazine and brought it to us. It had a two page article on the restaurant and his lovely wife. First page being a full page picture of her in her chef’s coat. Thank you for treating us like family, or better lol.

My 90 year old dad received a gift certificate for his birthday. I went there today for two “to go” orders. The food was delicious and the staff was super nice. We loved everything but the Peach Cobbler and Fried Chicken were off the charts. We highly recommend if you like real Southern food.
