Been to this location several times and recommended it to many friends. Tonight I brought 4 of my out of town girlfriends for what was supposed to be my favorite burger and fries in town. All 5 of us ordered burgers (cooked to varying temperatures) and every one of them was black on the outside and cooked to dark gray inside. One person in our group requested a new one and the manager took it back to be redone. As the rest of us discovered ours were overcooked too the managers response was ‘that’s the way they come off our grill’’ and refused to remake anymore. I was embarrassed by the way the manager treated my friends – she was so rude and condescending. Just very disappointing. Not sure I will be back and it is one of the few places that is seed oil free…photos of the remains of the medium rare burgers…

Coffee: 3.5 stars. Very good. Darker roast than I prefer.
Service: 3 stars. Employee slouched and leaned on counter while taking people’s order. It gave the wrong impression of about everything about the place.
There were 3 persons behind the counter. 2 were working at the coffee machine side by side. All turned away from the counter. I stood there and waited.

Nice, chill vibe with good food. Shared the breakfast burrito, which was delicious, but what was even more amazing were the pancakes!
I don’t even remember having pancakes like this before! They were moist, fluffy and buttery goodness! That was my favorite part!

I came here based on the reviews. The atmosphere is cute and fun, but the service and food are just ok. I got the French Toast for $14 and Salmon Lox for an additional $5. I expected more flavor from the French Toast based on the description. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exceptional by any means and I think its a bit overpriced for the quality of food.

Wow!! I had a wonderful experience going to Southern Grounds, it was my first time and from the moment I walked in, everyone was so friendly, and I love the warm welcome… The aesthetics and motif of this coffee shop is unmatched, it’s so spacious and I love all of the decor and it’s an eclectic, artsy theme and it feels cozy with inviting vibes where you can sit and work on your computer or you can just enjoy a delicious beverage and hang out with a friend and take in the heart of the downtown district, I ordered a brown sugar iced Matcha and it was absolutely phenomenal, I love ceremonial grade Matcha, and it wasn’t overly sweet, it was a hybrid of an Organic taste with the sweetness and perfect texture of the brown sugar, and oat milk, it is the best I have ever had in St. Petersburg! I can’t wait to come back and try the coffee, pastries, and so much more, I highly recommend everyone to visit and it will be an unforgettable experience and you will love it!!! ☕️

Staff was super friendly. I came in for breakfast last week which was incredibly, and had to come back for lunch/ dinner. I got the Korean steak bowl and it was delicious, a chai, and a nutter butter cookie. I will be back!

This is definitely one of my new favorite coffee shops! I go so often now.
⭐️Pros: VERY nice baristas and service workers (all but one that I had a negative experience with, but the rest have been amazing), the coffee is affordable. They don’t charge a crazy amount for alt milks and if I need to have my latte 1/2 decaf (daycation down the road charges $2 for this!!!!) service is also efficient and fast. My coffee is always consistent, which is important. There is also ample seating space, especially good for if you’re working from the coffee shop.
⭐️ Cons (only reason for the one star deduction): The pricing for the food is a bit outrageous. The bowls on the menu are $20-$25. I also wish they’d close the door on hot days. It can be uncomfortably warm some days, especially if you come after walking a long distance to get there.
