We visited the Southern Grounds location in St. Augustine the day before coming here, and that location truly stood out for its atmosphere and service. Unfortunately, the Neptune Beach location didn’t quite have the same charm, and our drinks weren’t as good compared to what we had the day prior.
That said, I still enjoy Southern Grounds overall and appreciate it far more than the typical corporate coffee chains. Even when one location doesn’t quite hit the mark, I still prefer supporting a brand that offers a more thoughtful, local coffee experience.

If you’re anywhere near the beach, do yourself a favor and stop by Southern Grounds on 1st Street. This place absolutely exceeded my expectations!
From the moment I walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. The staff made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable, without ever feeling rushed.
The tiramisu latte was incredible. Perfectly balanced, rich and smooth with just the right touch of sweetness. It truly tasted like dessert in a cup. And the croissant? Buttery, flaky, and baked to perfection. Every bite had that light, airy texture you hope for in a great pastry.
Between the amazing service, the cozy atmosphere, and the quality of everything I ordered, this spot is an absolute gem in Neptune Beach. I’ll definitely be back!

Excellent food, coffee, and teas. The eggs Benedict were light and delicious. The chocolate croissant is flaky, tasty and sooo good! The lavender lemon cheesecake cookie was great. I would like the cookies by themselves too. Best Honey lavender latte around.

Great drinks, I had an amazing bagel with herb cream cheese and a summer special iced tea/lemonade and husband had a banana chocolate chip muffin with a macchiato. Daughter had a strawberry banana smoothie that she loved! Great atmosphere with a cute courtyard, lots of tables available with umbrellas for shade. Customer service was great as well.

My husband and I are from Ohio, and every time we visit Jacksonville, Southern Grounds is the one place we go back to multiple times during our trip. The iced dirty chai with a double shot is an absolute must—perfectly balanced and so delicious. And their breakfast sandwiches are seriously top-tier. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and consistently excellent coffee. It’s become one of our favorite spots, hands down!

Love coming here for the coffee and outdoor patio seating. I very much appreciate the latte art. My only dislike is the pastries. The cakes are very dry. I believe this to be due to pre slicing and letting sit in the chiller. Muffins as well taste like they’re a few days old. Just not worth the price

This is my favorite place to sit and do work for hours. There is a ton of outside seating with umbrellas to keep the sun from beating down on you in the summer. I love bringing my pups up here for a pup cup, or getting a coffee here after the beach and just relaxing.
This inside seating isn’t as comfy but this place is great for studying/working late because they’re the only coffee shop that actually closes late.
I’ve tried so many things here as I’ve been a million times; I love the chicken salad croissant, it doesn’t have anything extra in it, but it’s so delicious on their flaky croissants.
The breakfast burger is pretty good with the egg on it, but I’ve had better. The turkey omelette was not good, very dry. The breakfast burrito is delicious with lots of flavor! I wish they had French fries as a side here but they do not. Their grilled chicken sandwich is also pretty good! The bagels are standard, nothing special. The bakery items are ok, but the best one I’ve had are the chocolate flourless torts. The pancakes are also really good!

Well organized restuarant. Order your coffee or breakfast at the counter, then find a seat in the outdoor seating area. Very casual atmosphere. I would definitely call this a “Locals hangout” because there are plenty of regulars or neighbors sitting around enjoying their mornings. My wife had a bagel and I had a grit bowl. Both were very good! This time of year it is really good to eat outside!
