Cute little place. Packed with locals. Owner and lady at the front are very friendly and nice.

Chicken Fried chicken was not bad. The biscuit was something different, it is literally cornmeal pancake, something new to me. I think I prefer the real biscuit. Sides were ok.

Convenient location as we head down to visit Jack Daniel’s distillery.

Stopped at Southern Fare…a Meat & Three in Shelbyville. Sat at the counter and Kim got me set up…very sweet lady. Saw some things pass by out of the kitchen and the onion rings really caught my eye so I went for the Country Fried Chicken with double mashed and a side of the onion rings. Solid meal…real mashed potatoes, tender juicy chicken, and LOVED the fried cornbread. The onion rings were awesome, love the light breading and the onions still had their “bite”…great flavor! What I really liked about the meal served, it was not overly seasoned or salty. Everything I saw delivered to various tables looked absolutely delicious.

All of the folks here were so welcoming and Kim took excellent care of me. Chatted with the owner Randy and you could tell he is very proud of this place…as well he should be. Great food and service at a very reasonable price!!!

Hamburger steak was OK. Creamed corn and apples were good sides. Very good iced tea. I didn’t care much for the corn bread, not even warm when served.

“Country-fried steak” didn’t have a good texture or flavor. It reminded me of some chipped beef I was served in a truck stop 35 years ago in NC, that was passed off as salisbury steak. The breading was OK. Salt and pepper were never applied during cooking. I wonder if it it was a formerly frozen and prepared product. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had been made from potato flakes. I should know, since that’s all I had for years as a child, and it was a magical revelation when I discovered that mashed potatoes could be made directly from actual potatoes. The fried okra wasn’t fresh, but I knew that when I ordered, since it is November when I’m writing this. I don’t think the cornbread pancakes were even made from scratch and cooked there. The butter wasn’t butter, but some kind of hydrogenated oil spread (margarine). They were inexplicably crowded, kind of loud, and the one or two waitresses were running off their feet. I reckon habit is what keeps that place in business. My friend had trouble getting a to-go box because the waitress was running herself to death, so any lack of service was certainly not her fault. For $26 for 2 people, they’ve cut the prep to the bare bones and are seriously coasting and just collecting the money. Very disappointing.

Very friendly atmosphere, variety of food, and customer service excellent. They usually have a special of the day. I ate salmon patties. Not a fan of the salmon patties, but I had beans and cornbread fritter, side salad, and tea. It was fresh and very tasty. All the dishes they were serving to customers looked amazing. It was my first time, therefore I didn’t know what to order. The hamburger steak or chicken salad also looked amazing! Prices are really cheap! I will definitely eat here again. Family oriented atmosphere!

So glad I stopped there. My waitress Kim was amazing and beyond sweet. The fried catfish was perfectly cooked with a light batter. The white beans and okra were spot on as well. The fried cornbread cake topped it all off. A truly perfect plate of food. 10 out of 10! Thanks Southern Fare!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The hostess did not walk us to the table. We had to grab our own menu and silverware. Then when seated, the waitress greeted others who came in after us before us. Maybe you need to be a certain color to eat and be treated right. We came Thursday, September 18th. Visit with caution. We left and did not order anything.

I don’t normally write reviews, most of them are bad. I was in shelbyville today and Google restaurants near me. I came across this one and decided to check it out, Just because it is a Mom and Pop restaurant. I was greeted at the door by a very nice gentleman, Which sent me under some old signs that reminded me of my uncle who has passed. Waitress, Pam treated me like I was part of the family and talk to me like she’s known me for years. Mind you this is my first time ever going. The food was amazing, Just down the Earth people and homestyle food. I wish I could go back soon, but I work on the days that they’re open. Maybe one of these days. I can’t wait for my T-shirt. Pam got my number. So when they get new T-shirts and I can get one. Thank you so much for your service Pam you were great. Also, a big shout out to the cooks. Great food guys.
