This was my first time trying the place and the fried chicken was the near perfection that I had heard about. Crispy fried with a spicy kick, juicy but not greasy. For sides I had the Sweet Corn Grit & Cajun Rice. They were both good too. I will definitely come back!
Visit #2: On my second visit I opted for the fish and it was good but not great. When I come back it’ll definitely be for the fried chicken.

Unlike some chicken places that seem to have endless chicken waiting to leave the conveyer belt, sometimes I might have to wait for my order. That being said, I have not had a bad meal from this establishment in Haynesville. They offer fantastic catfish, however it’s not on the drive thru menu! Unlike another local chicken “dilly” joint, I do not have bad indigestion after eating – and the chicken is so delicious. Fries, ehh, a little limpy and better swapped with fried okra or some other side. So glad that that the locals have guided me to some of the better eating establishments, not that there are lots to chose from anymore.

The chicken was hot, fresh and delicious! I love the sweet corn grits! Everything was delicious! Because of their sweet, humble hospitality, we tried to leave them a tip. They declined, we ask them to take it and pass it on for the next meals, they said “we already do that!” They just ask for prayer! Awesome meal!

It is hard for me to pass a southern classic chicken joint without stopping and getting something. I ordered the 12 piece dark chicken only meal and the lady at the window told me I would have to wait about 10 minutes for fresh chicken. I happily waited the 10 minutes and she was nice enough to offer me a snack, or a free drink while I waited. Get you some southern classic it keeps you coming back.

Employee attitude could have been better. I ordered a large order over the phone, I feel I should have been told about the family box add-ons. This would have saved me money and been much appreciated. As it was we didn’t receive the rolls I was sold came with the order. Upon pucking up my order I was told it was not ready and waited 10 minutes when a different employee pointed out my order had been sitting there the entire time. So, our food was cold, it was given to me anyway. I paid over $60.00 for cold Tenders and Fries….never again!!

Ordered two four piece fish plates to go. Got one with 4 pieces of fish, 6 hush puppies and no fries. The second one had 4 pieces of fish, no hush puppies, no fries. Neither had any tarter sauce. Ordered one side of beans and rice that was just ok. Ordered one side of coleslaw. After drinking the fluid off, had half a container or less of actual slaw that was decent. Fish was good. Very disappointed in service and quality of the order. Will drive south more to eat here less.

There is something wrong with the Chicken. I rarely eat chicken now because of my new diet. At first I thought it was just the way my body was reacting to fried chicken cooked in oils other than Olive oil, but it’s not the case. I’ve only eaten at this place twice this year so far. Both times the next day my head would be hurting like I had a hangover, I don’t drink, and my stomach always ached the next day. I never noticed anything back when I ate whatever I wanted, but since I started my diet to be more healthy I am convinced there’s something wrong with the food.

The best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Popeyes is the gold standard to me. Southern Classic is better. Most fried chicken isn’t cooked thoroughly and ends up soggy and mushy. Sure it’s probably safe to eat, but for the same money I choose better food. Popeyes and Southern Classic are the only places I buy fried chicken.
The service at the Haynesville Southern Classic has been great since it opened. The food has been excellent.

So glad Southern Classic is open in Haynesville now! So convenient and absolutely delicious! Today we got chicken strips, fries, okra and corn nuggets. Chicken strips are exceptional. We ordered and picked up at drive–thru. Taylor waited on us and was great. Very impressed!

Chicken breast was very dry and the rest of the chicken was xtra greasy. My granddaughter order chicken strips and ask if they had gravy and they told her YES they did if that is what they call gravy it looked like cooking oil and black pepper mixed together
