Ate at Southern Char on Feb. 4, 2026: totally delectable Char Burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and toothsome brioche bun with crunchy, delightful fried green tomatoes!
Jasmine was my kind and helpful server. Manager was so hospitable and kind. Love the atmosphere: delightfully relaxing! I will come back again and again.

This is definitely not a family dining restaurant.. not that it needs to be. Just not family budget friendly. Dinner was mostly great. Friend green tomatoes were delicious. Did NOT enjoy the salted carmel cheese cake. Overly priced for a small slice and not to my liking taste wise. Would still recommend for date night or group get together.

Only some wines are available by the glass. (My favorite wasn’t) We were seated 40 minutes before closing, but then warned we only had a few more minutes to order before kitchen closed. Food and service was good. They only offered a military discount for my husband’s meal, which I have NEVER seen. The management obviously has no idea what it means to be a military spouse.

The steak was good had filet and New York strip. The strip was about 1/4 in. The filet was chunky but flavorful. The asparagus and mashed potatoes they serve with the strip or good. The dining area was a large room and the music was not very pleasant. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. I did not think that the price reflected the quality of the food. The stakes were charred well and that did add to a robust flavor.

The overall atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. The steaks were under seasoned. A little salt and pepper goes a long way. Thank you for the wine recommendation!

We sat at the bar and had our meal there. The steaks were cooked to perfection and so juicy and flavorful! There is nothing we ate that wasn’t absolutely delicious. The bartender was very thorough and always inspected and wiped down glasses before filling them. Then to top it off, the restroom was very clean and smelled nice. We highly recommend Southern char in Picayune MS!

I had to seat myself … after I had been sitting for a while two other “lightly” colored people walked in and was greeted at the door offered a choice of seating then came back gave them menus and water. It felt so bad and out of place I got up to leave and when I got to the door a waiter said “hey we are sorry we thought you where DoorDash” like why would I profiled as a “door dasher” and I was clearly handicapped. The place gave me “unwanted” “racist” “uncomfortable ” vibes ..DO BETTER NO CUSTOMER SHOULD EVER WALK IN AND FEEL THAT WAY! & I was sooooo hungry

Fantastic food, had the blackened tuna steak and the Filet both were perfectly cooked. Great staff very courteous and attentive. Great experience all the way around!! Highly recommend Southern Char!!

Our waitress asked if we wanted a refill. Then proceeded to pick up both of our glasses with one hand. Fingers all in them , refilled and brought the same glasses back to us ♂️maybe I’m just picky about who puts their fingers in my drinks . Steaks seemed small for 6oz. It was ok overall.
