The bartender on Thursday, October 30th was incredibly unprofessional and rude. There was no signage showing the location as 21+, nor anyone checking ID. So, my friends and I (all 18-20 y o. college students) came and quietly played pool in the corner. We didnt try to get drinks or raise a commotion. I approached her asking if they served appetizers because we were hungry, and when directed next door, I said “they’re 21+ though :(” and she said “We’re 21+”. I said “Oh then we’re 21” joking, and walked back over to tell my friends. She then began yelling – and I am not exaggerating – that this location was 21 and up and that we were not welcome because she could lose her job and just being very condescending and rude. We were literally gathering our stuff to leave and she continued to yell at us saying she was giving up 45 seconds to get out. If this is how your staff handles issues, by attempting to embarrass and condescend adults, you need a new staff or new management if this behavior is tolerated and protected. We had no intention to stay after what she said, but how would she know? She gave us not even 5 seconds to react. Will not be returning, 21 or not.

Southern Belle Tavern is one of my top favorite dive bars in the Dayton area. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Great selection of draft beers and the mixed drinks are very good as well. They have four pool tables, darts, and a shuffle board. Two TVs to watch you favorite sports team and you are ready for a great night out.

My second favorite bar in North America! Been to 40 states, D.C., Canada and Mexico. Great place! I miss it, the people, etc. Probably been there close to 100 times. Had about 98 great experiences there! Only 2ish were cause I was tired n didn’t eat enough. Ha! Miss everyone. Hope all is well?!

This place is so…weird. I’ve only been here twice; both on a Friday night around 7 or so. Dead. They don’t have food as far as I know. If you want a place downtown to just play pool and drink, then I guess this is your place. Atmosphere is just lacking. To each their own I suppose.

My go to downtown bar! Pool, Darts, Great Music & Immaculate Vibes! This bar is a perfect go to spot for those living and working downtown or visiting! Tons of liquor options, and a decent selection of can/bottle beers, ciders and seltzers. I have been frequenting for a while and I have always received great service and conversation with patrons & the bartenders. I love bringing new people here for their first time! Keep up the great work!

Southern Belle is a great downtown spot for reasonable drinks and bar games. Walked over after Warped Wing and DBC. Nice crowd on Saturday night. Historic building with exposed timber framing is a plus for me.

The women bartender did not give good vibes. I feel like she might hate men idk. I first walked up to the bar and order a drink and mentioned it was dead she said “THANKS” I was like you’re welcome? Then proceeded to ask jokingly are you guys trying to have low numbers since she said “thanks” and she just looked at me no emotion which I then said “I guess I just expected there to be more people.” to just make things less awkward. Mind you as a brand new customer I just walked in and is probably the only sober one in that bar at 12 am. She just replies “ok.” Emotionless and walks away. I strike up a conversation with the women next to me ordering a shot the bartender then comes over and asks the women is everything ok like I’m the one who’s the problem. I actually was having a nice chat about how she was there to enjoy pool and the music. Just a warning to guys maybe women to checking this place out negative vibes and professional unwelcoming hospitality at this place.

Unreal bar, great vibes. However beware of a man named Caleb (he brings his own pool stick to the bar, lol) he doesn’t recognize the rules of pool and thinks if you scratch on the eight ball you still win. His lack of intelligence was rather concerning, I doubt he could close an umbrella. Unsurprisingly he was too cowardly too admit defeat, and resorted to violence. I hope Southern Belle has a strong enough conscience to recognize what a coward Caleb is, and will continue to be. Even his own friends were laughing at his inability to grasp the very simple rules of pool. Lord, please help this man because he needs help. Desperately

The bar itself has a very welcoming laid back feel. Lots of seating and pool tables, with a couple of TVs dotted around encase you want to catch some sports.
We sat by the bar and our bartender, Liberty was absolutely fantastic, checking on us periodically and joining in on the banter.
I would absolutely recommend stopping by for a drink (or two)!
