Amazing, local food. Definitely worth the nice drive south of Topeka.
I had the Steak Burger, Homemade Potatoe Salad, and smothered rice. The flavor was absolutely delicious. My husband had Surf n Turf Por Boy. He said it was amazing.
Then we got the Beneigh for dessert. OMG Definitely try this gem!!!

Just had my first experience today at Southern Belle and it blew my expectations out of the water. I tried the Sausage and Chicken Gumbo, Crayfish and Spinich appetizer, lots of beignets (yes they’re really as good as the one’s you get at Cafe du Monde – a restaurant famous specifically for beignets). My fiancé had the Belle Po’boy and it was superb; everything that we had was absolutely phenomenal. The owner Joel was very knowledgeable in his craft, and very welcoming and helpful and kind beyond measure. This is real, AUTHENTIC creole cuisine, and the man responsible shows the passion he has for his home food with every dish he makes. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be back… many times over.

p.s. if you are considering coming from out of town, I promise you, this place is worth the drive.

P.s.s Joel, if you’re reading this, thank you so much for a fantastic dining experience. You and your family are one in a million. Also I think I left one of my to-go items at the restaurant (crayfish and spinach dip) by mistake . But it’s not a big deal at all and 100% my fault. I look forward to ordering again at Southern Belle!

I’m not sure how to start this post? I think I’m gonna go with what a find!

On a motorcycle trip on the way home I stopped in Conceil Grove at my normal spot to have fried chicken, I was disappointed to find they are closed on Monday. I was so hungry as it was already 1 and I had not eaten yet that day. The only other food was fast food . So I rode father down the road, by the time I got to Burlingame I was beyond hungry I was getting hangry.

To my surprise I found the Southeren Bell, what a great find. Their menu had the typical cheeseburger but it had gumbo, jambalaya and po boy sandwiches. I was curious and decided to do the creole food. The better half had the shrimp po boy with fries and I had the crawfish spinach in a bread bowl. It was great but I think next time I will try with chips. Nothing wrong with the bread bowl it was good and fresh just way to much for me as I left 2/3 of the bowl on my plate. I took a shrimp from the po boy and the seasoning was excellent not hot spicy just perfect.
We got to meet Joel the owner and shared stories of things we knew and he knew of the cajun area. And how did he and his wife end up in the Flint hills of Kansas.

I will be going back to this place every chance I get as Joel change’s his special often that even a local will not get bored with the menu. Just not on a Tuesday as that is when they are closed

I highly recommend this place. We ordered almost everything on the menu and honestly I can’t complain about any of it. It was all so amazing and the owners are wonderful people. We will definitely be making the 40ish minute drive often.

WE WILL BE REGULARS HERE!

Last night, My little Southern Belle and I finally made it to Southern Belle Creole in Burlingame, Ks. And as the first line says, I foresee that we will be here regularly!
The food was amazing and the owners are super nice!
Crystal really put them to the test as a born and raised native of South Louisiana and by the end of the night, she gave them a resounding Thumbs Up!!
This is a new business and they are under taking a very challenging task, coming to a small town in Kansas and opening a business. As many business owners know, coming from the “outside” and establishing a business in a small town is very difficult. These wonderful people are relying on people from outside the community to help them be successful, please, make the trip to support them! It WILL be worth the drive!

I am a local, and a regular here, and hopefully it will stay that way. The food is (as far as I know) authentic cajun, and tastes absolutely amazing! The service is great, and the staff are great people. I’m glad we finally got a new restaurant in town, and I am extremely happy that it was this one. I’m glad they haven’t given up, considering that starting a restaurant in a very small town is probably quite a challenge, but they’re powering right through!

It’s really saddening how the restaurant is mostly empty all the time. The food is great and the people running it are good, honest people trying to run a small business. I sincerely hope they can get some more business in there on a regular basis.

Stopped by on the way home from the lake. My husband had the Boo fries which were excellent. We shared a Belle po ‘boy wish was also great. The portions were quite generous. The waitress and the owner were both super friendly. Looking forward already to future visits.

Have eaten here twice. It is worth the drive from Topeka!
We had: the Boo Fries for an appetizer – fries smothered with brown gravy, meat and cheese. What’s not to love.
3 of us had Jambalaya. 1 had red beans and rice. Yummy and flavorful.
Took home 2 bags of amazing kettle corn.

My husband and I went to New Orleans a little over a year ago and I fell in love with the food. Fast forward to today and Southern Bell has hit the mark. Truly authentic and delicious! The budain, jambalaya, and crab cakes are the bomb. Even the beignets are mouthwatering. I would recommend this to anyone in Topeka and it is well worth the drive!
