Lots of fun! Very good pub food. Very good bar. Excellent band started playing at 7. Excellent ambience. Attentive staff. So glad that Houma has a place like this that both locals and visitors can enjoy. Accepts credit cards. Ample parking. Wheelchair ♿️ accessible. Excellent for groups. Casual / relaxed attire. Expect it to be loud and boisterous. If you’re coming here to do office work on your laptop or to study, you won’t get any work done but you will have a good time. No one from the establishment will pressure you to throw axes if you aren’t interested. Can’t say the same for your group of friends though. Merch available. Strong social media presence with lots of community involvement. Excellent for team building. Check out their socials for all events hosted or will be present at.

Southern axe has been a great experience… from the great atmosphere of all the unique cypress wood tables to the friendly staff… they make the whole process of throwing axes easy not mention the FOOD is on point… can’t wait to try the brunch…

The food was amazing. I got the bacon cheeseburger and my husband got the brisket quesadilla (definitely recommend). The fries come with the entree and they were some of the best fries I ever had (sounds silly to say about fries but true).
I do recommend calling ahead and making sure you don’t need a reservation. We didn’t know to do this and we almost didn’t get a table. But the ladies worked with us and we were able to be seated. Unfortunately since we didn’t have a reservation we couldn’t throw the axes as the lanes were reserved. But that was our fault not theirs.
The atmosphere is great other than needing a few repairs. But that wasn’t an issue for us.
All in all was a great place to spend a Saturday with the food and live band!

We decided to try this place because the reviews looked good. We go early when we go to our restaurant. 3:30 or so, before the evening crowds come in, so our party three pretty much had the Play store ourselves. I think there may have been one other small group there but I don’t remember.
We first said it one of the smaller square tables but it was really wobbly. So we moved to the bigger round table nearby. It was great not being cramped elbow to elbow like so many other places.
The atmosphere is pretty nice, but then they turned on the TV with some loud music blasting. Could have done without that.
We all thought the food was great. One person who was a small eater just got the tater kegs. They are high quality tater tots basically, but with bacon and cheese in them. They’re quite large and look like a fried marshmallow. But they are an awesome side. The other two of us had the maczaddy. A burrito with your choice of meat, and macaroni and cheese in it. We had the brisket ones, and loved them. Their fries are pretty good. They’re cut some strange way I’ve never seen before. Finally, we had fried green beans, which were very good. Try the axe sauce. It’s a lot like tiger sauce, are some of the sweet chili sauces at Asian places.
All in all, we’d go back for the food, even if we did feel a little out of place.

This place is a hidden gem for sure! We went for the first time a week ago for date night and it was one of my favorites. We will definitely come here often!
Another thing I LOVE is the family friendly atmosphere. Children are considered in every detail. I don’t quite know how to verbalize it… but it’s like a fun, chill vibe. Like a place you’d go for adult socializing but yet your child can also tag along and blend right in and you’ll have just as much fun.

There isn’t anything on the menu I have had that I didn’t like. The loaded fries are bomb, the chicken wrap is amazing, the wings are just wow! Throwing axes is the best stress relief too. Definitely a nice place to grab a few beers with friends and throw some axes. Oh and teens love it too.

We booked a party for 10 people and were provided a table for 8. The solution was to split up the party at another table that wasn’t close to our table. We suggested moving another table to ours to make it large enough for our party, but were told the tables were reserved for a party arriving at 7. We stayed till 8, and no other parties arrived. So one of our guests just sat at a bench to eat his food.
Their service was good considering there was only one server for the entire establishment.
The food was ok for the most part, but the chicken tenders were as dry as sheet rock.
As for the ax throwing, I’m not sure how you score when there are no numbers on the crudly painted targets. And the axes could use some TLC. They are about as sharp as a hammer.
The atmosphere could use some work. There were several missing ceiling tiles. One was being held up by a string of lights. We also spotted several roaches.
