Food is still as good as my first post. I think adding fried dill pickles and potato skins as apps to the menu was a good idea. If you haven’t tried their Ceasars salad – it’s fresh and delicious and im very picky about salad. I have started eating the BBQ Chicken breast dinner and it could be my new favorite right now. NEVER gonna beat the meatloaf – always good service and always busy!! We have been spoiled by the excellent food and service here and rarely attempt other places. Dockside has a different feel than the McFarland location. We love them both!!!
same menu as the original – we love both SAH
Update – we visit SAH dockside at least once a week. The place was jumping Thursday night – they had live music and DALE provided the best service we have had at this location. We are regulars at both locations. Suggested items – all the apps are good. Sweet potato tots Bacon wrapped meatloaf and ANY burger – I’m obsessed with the Pickle Burger right now. All the beverages are good. Overall OUR favorite place to eat right now.
** we have been regulars for almost a year now – impeccable service and the food is way better than the pictures !!!!
The loaded fries were to DIE for! I might jump on a flight back just for that, no kidding.
The food came out great and that mango lemon whatever drop drink I had was incredible. Next time I come back to Alabama, I have to come here!
She had grilled Mahi Mahi on cheesy grits and loved it. I had bacon wrapped meatloaf, which was fine but nothing to write home about.
Really, the location defines this place: relaxed, country, somewhat upscale, catering to folks who pull up dockside in their own boat (the first popped collar polo shirt on a middle aged dude I’d seen in ages).
A great option if you live nearby, but not quite worth the long drive from downtown, east, or south T-town. Outside seating looks great, but you’ll be contending with flies. Inside is a bit echoey, and as others have noted, lots of live music: great if you like the performers, but if you want to have a conversation, it’s best to sit out back.
When we left the house Waitlist said there was no wait. However, by the time we arrived (10 minutes later) the place was packed, 6:30ish on a Friday night. Wait staff told us it would be around 40 minutes, and true to their estimate, we waited almost exactly that amount of time for our party of two. Thankfully the area is beautiful and there are outside picnic tables to sit at as you wait
The atmosphere on the outside is fantastic. The inside of the building is a little cramped, and feels a little undecorated. But we aren’t there to look at the walls. The live music is a nice touch, but mileage may vary.
I ordered the prime rib, and the wife had the filet. We both had twice baked potatoes, I had slaw and she had sweet tater tots. The sides were excellent and the food came out fairly quickly.
My prime rib was ordered medium rare and my wife’s filet medium. When we cut in, both steaks were red/purple on the inside. She was fine with going on, I sent mine back for a little more heat. The server was extremely kind and patient with us about this and it wasn’t an issue. When it came back, there were parts medium rare, parts rare, and medium well. The seasoning wasn’t great either. I am chalking this up to the place being packed, and there being a little additional pressure on getting food out. My wife said hers tasted great.
Server was gracious and kind and comped a fantastic dessert due to another very minor issue.
I love local places and hope this place keeps getting better and knocks it out of the park.
And then they serve you frozen onion rings from a bag.
Yeah.
Chicken is pretty good, thankfully, so the frozen rings and wet bland salad wasnt needed so much.
“Professional cooks”….remember that when you’re eating Ore Ida rings.
The wait staff were polite and on point.
