The food was some of the worst bar food I’ve ever had. The “hot chicken sandwich” was laughable:
1. Bun
2. Fried, frozen chicken filet
3. Doused with Texas Pete or Frank’s RedHot
4. Jarred chili flakes
5. Basic lettuce, tomato, etc.
It was painfully obvious the chicken came straight out of a freezer bag. Honestly, it felt like something Gordon Ramsay would rip apart on Kitchen Nightmares. Love the unripe green potatoes as well used for the fries.
Service wasn’t any better. No one checked on us, asked how our meal was, or seemed to care at all. The woman who took our order barely spoke five words the entire time.
Great beer doesn’t make up for bad food and worse service. I really wanted to like this place, but it was a massive disappointment.
The highlight of my visit was definitely the mimosa flights. For just $12, you can sample a variety of delicious mimosas, which is a fantastic deal. If you’re more of a traditionalist, a regular mimosa is only $3, and if you’re in the mood to celebrate, a whole bottle of champagne is just $15—a steal!
The breakfast menu, while somewhat limited, offered good quality food that hit the spot. The service was decent, and I appreciated the self-seating arrangement which added to the laid-back vibe of the place.
Overall, the atmosphere at South End Brewing Company is really nice, making it a perfect spot to unwind with friends or family. Whether you’re there for the drinks or the food, you’re sure to have a great time. Cheers to a great brunch spot!
The service was fast and the service was ok, but I didn’t like having to go to the counter to order drinks and food whenever you want, but at least you have the option of opening the bill in one name and marking it down according to what you need. Some items that I think are worth mentioning:
– Mothers who go with their babies should be aware that there are no changing tables in the bathroom (this is the first time I’ve seen this happen).
– Napkins and cutlery are only available in the indoor area: I thought it was really bad having to go inside to get them in the middle of the meal.
Around 7:45pm, I ordered food. I got the half pound garlic parm wings (6) and regular fries ($8). The total was $18. You must order order at the food counter and drinks at the bar.
After ordering, we went outside to sit as the inside was completely full. The music was pretty loud when it was playing.
I received my food at 7:53pm. The wings were perfectly cooked! I loved the crisp it had. However, the dry rub wasn’t enough for me, in my opinion. I like my wing flavors bold and it wasn’t. My fries were lukewarm and mixed consistently in crispiness. It was definitely overpriced.
My friends got sandwiches and they highly enjoyed them. I would return to try a sandwich. They come with fries and seems more affordable.
Staff is well versed in what they’re pouring, and have great food pairing suggestions for what’s on the grill a counter down.
Had the fried flounder sandwich, wife had the smoked brisket sandwich. Bread was toasted and buttered, flounder was lightly breaded and crispy, with a wonderful sauce, lettuce, something pickled, and lettuce. Wife’s was smoky, meaty, and tender, with the same toasted, buttered bread. Truffle fries where awesome, with a great aioli sauce.
Great beers, and service topped off a wonderful experience. Will be back soon.
