Had dinner here with my husband and a very dear friend( who’s coworker said that this was the best Greek restaurant in Philly… absolutely correct) The food was delicious, with great service and prices. We were also lucky enough to get parking, directly across the street.

This is an oldie but goody. I was visiting Philly and introduced my son to an old tradition. When I was around his age and younger, my friends and I would almost always get gyros from here. When we arrived after clubbing or doing the South Street stroll we would go to the order window and all get walking gyros. X amount of years later and I share this amazing experience with my kid. I’m so glad they’re still around and I pray that they are around when I bring my grandbabies.

South Street Souvlaki, is a hidden gem within Philadelphia. It was my first time here. I had lunch with a friend. I had the Gyro and she had the salad with chicken. The food is absolutely delicious. And I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portion sizes. At the end of the meal she had coffee and I had espresso and the espresso was amazing. Our Server was absolutely awesome.
The service is quick and the prices are very affordable. I also got a chance to meet the Owner. He is the nicest man. He allowed me to take some interior photos and a short video. The entire experience of dining there was extremely positive. I am definitely going to return to South Street Souvlaki.
I highly recommend South Street Souvlaki.

The chicken is tender, perfectly seasoned, and grilled just right, then tucked into warm pita with tomatoes, lettuce, olives and creamy tzatziki. A must go-to if you’re craving authentic Greek food, that’s very reasonably priced and easy to find on South Street.

This restaurant has been on south street since the late 70s and I can see why. This is authentic Greek food to a T! We were here Valentine’s Day and the restaurant looked the part, and we were big fans of their food. The lamb and chicken kebabs were fire. The sides including rice, potatoes, and hummus were great too. Alcohol selection had plenty of good options to choose from. Looking forward to the next visit here

8/18/24… Have been going to South Street Souvlaki for many, many years. My opinion, the best baba ganoush, the best gyros, the best hummus and the best platters. What can I say, just consistently delicious! Thank you for not changing your consistently delicious food and service!

In my opinion, I can’t imagine a gyro made better than here. They use the best pita, the meat is sliced right in front of you and well it’s just the best gyro. They do have other excellent food. Get the gyro, you will be glad you did. Recently dined in and they make the best baba ganosh and their calamari and baked chicken and their pork chops all so very good as well as their pastitsio…and Donna, who served us, so very nice. Love their homestyle food.

We’ve loved South Street Souvlaki for over 25-yrs! Excellent gyros, fabulous Greek Sampler appetizer with numerous Mediterranean delicacies, and the best hummus I’ve ever had anywhere.
Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, food quality is excellent, and dishes are homemade. It shows.
Service is solid and atmosphere is cozy. A bit tight and cramped, but interesting interior and bar space, with view into kitchen.

I really liked the gyro here! I’ve had so many gyros from so many different places but MAN. The meat was well cooked, the tzadziki was so flavorful, and my favorite, there was a lot of it on my gyro! The tomato, lettuce and red onions were well portioned, and nothing beats a warm piece of pita hugging those ingredients. Our dinner came to 30$, a very reasonable price for two people, a soft drink, a gyro + souvlaki, a beer AND a desert. Come here if you can, people!

A hidden gem on South Street! A great variety of Greek food made fresh. We tried the 2 for $46 dinner and everything was excellent! The beets with skordalia were amazing, and so were the salads. We tried the stuffed tomatoes and the Imam Baldi and we loved both. For dessert we had baklava and galaktobouriko and both were very good. (I apologize for the dessert pictures but we started eating before I decided to take a picture). Of course our drink of choice was Ouzo on the rocks with a splash of water. We’re definitely going back!
