Of course, we had to order the ahi tuna nachos and they did not disappoint. Steve feels the eel sauce has a bit of honey in it and even suggested covering wings in that sauce. Maybe we will see it as an option one day.
Based on a friend’s review, I ordered the French dip and I’m glad I did. So delicious! Next time, I’ll ask for the hand cut fries extra crispy. The flavor was great, I just like ’em crispier.
My husband ordered the wings and they were BIG and juicy! JUMBO! He enjoyed them.
Sorry for the partially eaten food photos. Lol
I took a picture of the women’s bathroom because it was one of the nicer ones I’ve been in. The restaurant is larger than we thought and it only looks empty because we were there around 3 pm. We will definitely be back.
The food was the real star. The scallop dish was cooked to perfection — tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. And the ahi tuna nachos? Out of this world. Fresh, vibrant, and the kind of appetizer you’ll be thinking about long after you leave.
This isn’t just another restaurant — it’s a true must-stop if you’re in South Asheville. Great vibe, friendly staff, and a menu that makes you want to come back again and again. Highly recommend!
The attention to detail stood out in all the best ways—from the silverware that looked brand new, to the spotless bathrooms, to the crisp, refreshing water. And the food was absolutely delicious.
Even though we arrived late in the evening, we never once felt rushed. On the contrary, Shawn encouraged us to relax and enjoy our time together, knowing it was a bit of a family reunion for us. That kind of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated.
Everything about this place was stellar. Highly recommended for both the food and the experience!
We went out and told everyone immediately and posted on all of our social for your place. It worked!, clients came back, loved the food.
Yet our last two visits haven’t been as such. This last time, my husband and I sat there for 15 min. First, we were at the door, the waiters never said one word. We did not complain. It was fifteen minutes later when we just left.
It matters a lot in a small space, too. (Note Our friends restaurant in TN, seats the same, he just hires courteous, aware wait staff).”
Our previous other visit, we waited forever for our simple two person order. The waitress seemed off, tired, nervous, who knows. So be it
The waiters you have now, they just look at ya as you wait. Not, “We can seat you in ..time, sorry for the wait, can we get you a drink from the bar?”
It’s very odd. Doesn’t seem right for any customers who walk in. We sat in the chairs. Not one word and we have a good reportie with local venues in town.
Hire aware, professional staff always, like when the owner did it.
Train them in that way, please.
Never hire friends or family if they can’t protect your venue.
We hope this helps your venue
For starters, the restaurant was extremely clean and cozy. We were greeted promptly by the bar tender as we walked through the front door. My wife and I are both N/A so was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a great selection of drinks catered to us.
We met an awesome person named Mimi at the bar that suggested the AHI Tuna Nachos, so we took a chance. It was a healthy portion, the Tuna was fresh and the flavor was amazing! We could have stopped there and this would have been a 5 star experience.
We chose our main entrees, my wife was feeling the Ribeye and I chose the Shrimp and Grits. We both were blown away by the food. I haven’t had shrimp and grits this tasty outside of Charleston. My wife said the steak(cooked medium rare) was extremely tender and grilled to perfection.
It’s obvious the chef cares about the food and menu, as there are plenty of choices but NOT overwhelming. In closing I would definitely recommend and I hope others will give this little hidden gem a try. We love to support local homegrown restaurants! To close, I say keep doing your thing South Paw, your food is definitely a shining star in the area!
