This place feels like the old Hawaii and worth the drive! The server was friendly, the atmosphere was casual and the food was really good. I had the fish tacos which were fresh and tasty. I found the prices were very reasonable. They have a patio in the back for dining and is clean and comfortable.

Food was quite delicious but our service from Marika was excellent and amazing. She was lovely and made the experience even better.
The place was so cozy, welcoming, loved the outdoor terrace and the way it was decorated.

Really great Poke Nachos! Easy parking and good food. Loved the seating in the back patio, it was quiet and very green. We also got the Kalua Pork Quesadilla as an appetizer and it was amazing as well.

What a great find! Amazing food and service. Ordered the Pineapple Cilantro Tacos, which were fabulous. We had a very handsome guest join us, too!

Such a cool place! The seating is all outdoors with cover. Their burger and fries were so amazing, it hit the spot! The owners were super friendly too. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area or driving by. It’s worth the stop for sure!

Very cool vibe here – plus good food with positive service! Stopped for lunch and had pineapple fish tacos (loved the sauce – not too spicy) and a regular hamburger. Both were very good.

The decor is eccentric with a hippie/vaguely Buddhist vibe and mix and match tables and chairs.

The place looks like heaven garden. After a long a hot day it is very comfortable to stay in the shadow of the tropical plants
, small chickens and kitten were roaming around ❤️
The food is pretty good and portions are enormous.

We were on the way back to Kona from the Volcano National Park, which is a long and slow drive. We happened upon this place and decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere was nice, local, and very comfortably down to earth island style. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. The pineapple cilantro fish tacos were awesome. Great flavor without being too sweet like one would expect with pineapple. Also, the fresh wahoo was very tasty, both grilled and fried.

South Kona Grindz is a cozy, unassuming spot that delivers solid comfort food with a friendly, local vibe. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a casual meal. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and courteous, always ready with a smile and happy to help, which adds to the welcoming feel of the place.

One of the standout dishes is their fish and chips. While it might not rival the classic British version (let’s be honest, few places outside the UK can), it’s still quite good by American standards. The fish is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the portion size is generous. It’s a satisfying option if you’re craving something fried and comforting, though purists might find it a bit different from the traditional British style.

Overall, South Kona Grindz is a reliable spot for hearty, no-fuss meals. The friendly service and relaxed atmosphere make it a great choice for a low-key dining experience. While the fish and chips might not transport you to a seaside town in England, they’re still a tasty option worth trying. If you’re in the area and looking for a casual meal with a side of aloha spirit, this place is worth a visit.
