I struggled with this review because I always like to see the positive but there were definitely some challenges with my meal. The burgers and chicken wrap were very good. I had the steak quesadillas and really didn’t like it. It was very small, looked like chopped meat not steak and really no condiments. I asked for salsa and they didn’t have any. BUT all the other meals were good and it has a great bar vibe. I wouldn’t recommend for a heavier dinner.

South Front Tavern exceeded every expectation. The beautiful outdoor seating created a relaxed, chill vibe that set the perfect tone for the evening. It’s wonderfully baby-friendly and dog-friendly, which made the night even more enjoyable for our family.
The food was absolutely outstanding—every bite full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The burger was simply insane, the gumbo had incredible depth, and the crab cakes were packed with lump crab meat and perfectly pan-seared. Each dish tasted like it was crafted with care and passion.
The cocktails were equally impressive; my favorite was the Purple Haze—smooth, vibrant, and the ideal complement to the meal.
From ambiance to service to the unforgettable food and drinks, this was truly a 5-star experience. Highly recommend South Front Tavern to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!

This is a hidden gem for sure! We have been here twice now and both times were fabulous! BTW before I go any further – they have two specials right now – Wednesday is half price quesadilla’s and Thursday they serve a $5 smash burger! Yes, we have had them both and they are both delicious – I will not reveal the cheese combo in the Quesadilla, but it is crazy delicious and the best quesadilla I have ever eaten. We have also had the Gumbo Ya Ya, the Potato leek soup, Chicken wings and the Carolina Blueberry bread pudding and OMG to every dish. Mark, the owner, and his staff are top shelf with great personalities and really make you feel valued and cared for. The atmosphere is casual but fun. The chef definitely takes pride in his preparation and presentation – the portions are also large enough where you dont walk away hungry or overstuffed – they also have a full bar. The South Front Tavern is now on our circuit!

We were there by 6pm and they were already out of Wings and the Beef Short Rib Chili. Their menu covers about 4 or 5 handheld and quesadilla options and 6 or so entrées. I wound up with the shrimp & grits cake entrée. My old fashioned came in a martini glass – ? All in all I would recommend this spot. My husband enjoyed his skirt steak.

When I was looking for the perfect venue for my daughter’s bridal shower, Mark at South Front Tavern truly stood out. Instead of just sending an email or text, he picked up the phone and called me and that personal touch was all I needed to make my decision.
From the very beginning, he was so willing to collaborate on the setup, decorations, and menu to make the event special. On the day of the shower, the space was warm and inviting, the food was fresh and tasty, and the entire staff led by Katie and Leah, took amazing care of us.
My daughter absolutely loved the vibe and atmosphere that South Front Tavern created, and our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the menu, service, and location. I highly recommend South Front Tavern for anyone looking to host a private event with a cozy, welcoming feel!

Enjoyed the drinks and the server was great. She was passionate and gave us great recommendations.
The Cajun shrimp dish was good. The sauce was flavorful but the shrimp tasted a bit overcooked and rubbery.
Crab cakes were Maryland style so lots of lump crab meat and pretty good. Well prepared plate.
Really enjoyed people watching outside on the front patio. Inside was tastefully decorated with many seating options.

The smash burger and slaw were both incredible! Service was 10/10 and the manager was super thoughtful and kind. They have a lovely patio that’s dog friendly and wonderful daily specials. We will be back and recommend it to everyone.

Been here a few times. Hamburgers, sliders and mushroom appetizer hit the spot. Had a nice toasted coconut martini! Ordered key lime creme brulee, for dessert. Someone got a little too flame happy and toasted it a tad too long. However, our server corrected it right away!

Wow! What a great new restaurant in Wilmington!!! Came here for brunch, and everyone was thrilled with their meals: Shrimp & Grits was amazing, and so was the Skirt Steak & Eggs. Even the basic bacon, egg & cheese wrap was next level! This chef really knows what he is doing! We will definitely be back!!! (PS – Our server, Madelaine, was delightful and made great recommendations! 🙂
