When we arrived, the line was long and lively, with patrons queued up to order at the counter. Despite the crowd, the staff kept things moving efficiently. Our order was ready in about 10–15 minutes, and seating was available both indoors and on a spacious outdoor patio.
The food itself was the highlight. We tried the halibut fish and chips and the crab cocktail—both were impressively fresh and flavorful. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and it’s clear they know how to handle seafood.
Service was friendly and quick, but the cleanliness of the space left something to be desired. The picnic tables, especially outside, were in rough shape—sticky, grimy, and not well-maintained. It gave the place a bit of a “dockside fish market” vibe, more reminiscent of a remote island than the Oregon coast.
Overall, South Beach Fish Market is worth experiencing at least once for the quality of the seafood and the quirky, no-frills atmosphere. That said, I’m not sure I’d rush back unless the cleanliness improves.
I went with the hallibut fishing chips and was not dissatisfied. The fish fell apart. It melted in my mouth. The French fries were crispy..
Malt vinegar and ketchup on the tables. No it wasn’t pristine and you have to get your own silverware, but that’s exactly the vibe of the place.
We went back a day later for a whole cooked Dungeness Crab, and they bagged it no fuss and we were out the door. This is an excellent to-go shop, they haven’t the tube for frills, but if you’re here for the seafood, they’ve got you. The crab was sweet, tender, delicious with a warm up in a pot with hot water. It was also expertly cleaned, which made eating it easy. So good
We’ll be back.
They also serve excellent prepared food. Candied salmon is to die for! Long lines, often, but they blow through it quick! Very good and quick service always!
The crab sandwiches are unreal — loaded with sweet, perfectly fresh crab and done just right every time. And the oyster shooters? Absolute perfection. Fresh, briny, ice cold, and packed with flavor. They’re the kind that make you immediately order another.
Consistency is what keeps me loyal. Same amazing quality, same freshness, every single visit. If you appreciate real, fresh seafood done right, this place is it. I’ll be coming back for many more years.
