Food:
I went during happy hour, and I ordered a smash burger ($6), a paloma ($6), and an aperol spritz ($8). The burger is nothing extraordinary (just a patty and cheese), but it has a good flavor to it and is not greasy. I would totally order the paloma again: it has a nice subtle grapefruit flavor to it. Aperol spritz is a classic, but I would rather order another paloma!
Service:
You just scan a QR code to order, and you can open/close a tab easily. Love that it accepts Apple pay. Food came like 15 minutes before my drinks did, so there is definitely a bit of wait with drinks.
Ambiance:
I love the vibe out here — it is essentially just a ton of benches with umbrellas to vibe at. A very chill outdoor experience, and all of my friends had positive things to say as well 🙂
Overall, the place is a cool quiet place to hang out and snack, also you can bring your dog which is nice as well.
The food itself was tasty overall. The Wagyu burger was flavorful, though much smaller than I expected for the price. On the flip side, the focaccia melt was much larger than I pictured and very satisfying. We also tried the Jet Pilot frozen drink; it was definitely strong, with a heavy alcohol flavor that was a bit too much for our taste.
One thing to note is the dining experience is extremely hands-off. The hostess takes your name and seats you, and from there everything is done through a QR code—ordering, paying, and leaving. There’s no explanation of menu items, no refills offered, and no check-ins from staff once your food is delivered. If you prefer a no-interaction dining experience where you can just eat and go, this is definitely the place for you.
Overall, good food and a nice atmosphere—just know what to expect going in.
The season fries were just as impressive. Perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned exactly right. They held up great with the burger and were impossible to stop eating.
This was hands down one of the best burgers I have ever had and easily top three of my life. If you are a burger fan and in Austin, Sour Duck Market is a must visit.
I ordered a salted caramel decaf latte with almond milk, and my wife had a mocha with oat milk — both were delicious, cozy, and beautifully crafted.
For food, we shared a vegetarian sandwich on focaccia (mushroom Philly–style — I forgot the exact name), but wow, it was amazing! The pickled onions, flavorful veggies, mushrooms, and that subtle hint of mustard all came together perfectly.
We finished with the spiced potato cake, recommended by the staff, and it did not disappoint. It paired so well with my latte!
We’ll definitely be back again.
Cheers!
Service was fast and polite. Atmosphere was typical tx roadhouse.
Prices seemed high.
Not only was the food amazing, but the people. I was warmly welcomed by the baristas, and the open kitchen concept was such a neat touch. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was the perfect level of spice: flavorful, enjoyable, and crispy in all the right ways. Every bite had me thinking, “Yeah… I’m definitely coming back.”
And the fries? Oh, the fries. Not just salted, actually seasoned with a delicious blend of spices. I scarfed down that sandwich so fast I didn’t even have leftovers to take home.
You’d think that was the end of it, but no. I treated myself to a slice of their honey cake, and it was instant serotonin. After six hours of studying, that slice genuinely revived me. Honestly, if they made it as a whole pie, I’d choose it as my birthday cake next year.
To top it all off, one of the managers, Justin, noticed my pure bliss and surprised me with a box of pastry samples. I know it sounds dramatic, but it genuinely made me tear up. It’s the small things.
Thank you, Sour Duck, for making my Monday a whole lot more tolerable and the kindness that reminded me how a simple gesture can make someone’s day.
