Souper Jenny is a hidden gem café in Decatur that deserves all the love it gets.

From the butterfly wall to the old books and bright décor, this place radiates positivity and peace.
You can tell the staff care, every dish feels handmade and intentional.

We tried the chicken noodle salad and the couscous with roasted veggies, both so fresh and balanced, it’s clear they use top-quality ingredients.

It’s rare to find a restaurant that feeds both your body and your soul, but Souper Jenny does just that.
Plus, they give back through The Zadie Project, which helps provide meals for Atlanta families in need.

If you’re on the hunt for a local Atlanta restaurant with heart, this is it.
Perfect for lunch dates, cozy meetups, or when you just need a bowl of something good.

We had this place on our favorites list and we finally got a chance to stop in. This place is huge inside. It looks like they sell some clothing in the front and there’s wide open lounge space. They close at 4 PM and in between 3-4PM, It’s only to-go orders which was fine for us. They were putting the to-go orders out hot so we were able to try these soups hot or we would’ve been fine taking it home to warm up. We wanted to try the turkey chili, but it was sold out on this cold Saturday before the ice storm. She said they made several pots of the turkey chili, but it sold out first. We got the vegetable soup and the ginger chicken soup along with the naan bread. I got the vegan tiramisu dessert and one of their house dressings. They had a few other interesting desserts, quinoa, side dish, and a salad, but we were focused on the soups. My wife almost got the broccoli cheddar, but I don’t do cheese. Everything was fair priced and the service was great as they explained everything to me although the ingredients were well listed. The vegetable soup tasted hearty and fresh and I was pleasantly surprised. We moved over to the ginger chicken soup and it was definitely delicious. I didn’t want it to taste too much like ginger and it didn’t. We like soup and not many places make soup so I’m glad to discover this place. We mixed both soups lol. If you don’t want to eat the soup out of a plastic container and instead eat it out of a real bowl, then you have to come before 3 PM to dine in. I imagine if you take anything to-go it’ll still be in a plastic container if there’s anything left, lol. There are also more options available if you come before 3 PM like noodles, salads, sandwiches, and bread, especially if you need a little something more hearty to get you full. We plan to definitely come back here before 3 PM and we will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

I love – more than anything else in the world – places like this that source local goods, showcase community-made food, and donate to those in need.

Plus, the person at the counter was so nice when I had asked about the available dessert selections, where she walked me through the treats on display. I also liked seeing the sense of quiet community inside – it immediately appeared a comforting spot to grab a nourishing meal. Notably, it’s enormous inside, comfortably so. Would love to return!

SJ is probably the best soup and salad spot in Metro Atlanta with fresh, organic ingredients. The spot in Decatur is dope and has a chill vibe with plenty of space to sit. If you try regularly, you will definitely see the same customers because it is that GOOD.

The food is wonderful with great salads, awesome soups, and very satisfying sandwiches. The menu changes daily but typically will have a popular item more often. I love their Kale & chicken Caesar salad and chicken noodle soup. The service is excellent, patient, and customer friendly. The facility is clean and also connected to eclectic clothing store. It’s very popular too.

With that, I highly recommend Souper Jenny- Decatur; however, remember this isn’t Panera, so their prices are a little higher. But trust, it’s worth it. I wouldn’t recommend the Brookhaven spot. It is just too congested, horrible parking, and feels like eating in a closet.

I don’t give a lot of 5-stars, but this deserves it. Might just become my favorite lunch stop. Great soups and chili, salads and sandwiches. You order cafeteria style and sit in the delightful open dining area that is a combination of tables, chairs and sitting room furniture!!! The turkey chili is outstanding with a nice amount of kick, along with what might be the best corn bread I have tasted. The fruit and salad fixings are absolutely fresh… along with the complimentary bread. I’ll be back soon to try their sandwiches. Very friendly vibe throughout the place. Nice to eat off china plates verses plastic of styrofoam.

Today was our day trip to Atlanta and my family needed a celiac-safe restaurant. Souper Jenny offers so many allergy-friendly foods and has the kindest staff. I love how generous they are to the community giving food to those in need. Amazing experience, and we will make this our spot for every Atlanta adventure! So refreshing to have real and nutritious food that everyone enjoyed!

Souper Jenny is such a wonderful place. The food here is fresh and wholesome. I appreciate the extensive vegetarian and vegan dishes. It’s so nice to go somewhere that offers variety and I appreciate being able to see the menu that’s updated online daily. The prices are also really great and it’s wonderful how much they give back. The energy at this location is fantastic, there’s lots of seating and the environment was very welcoming. Everyone walks out as better than they were when they first walked in.

This is my new favorite Soper Jenny in Atlanta. My previous favorite was Buckhead but this one is more homey and calm. You get the same food and friendly service.

A great place to grab lunch and read a book or catch up on some work.

I don’t know what the big deal is. For lunch rush, you wait in along line for good cafeteria food. OK… The chocolate chip cookies are on point though. And the options to take out and reheat for dinner are pretty good. But I was underwhelmed by the food that was served in the back. So it’s just OK for me. And for the love of God… Will somebody please dim those lights?

Souper Jenny ATL is an absolute gem! The soups are always fresh, flavorful, and comforting — you can really taste the love and creativity in every bowl. Their menu rotates daily, which keeps things exciting, and there’s always a healthy variety of options to choose from (even for picky eaters or those with dietary needs).
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff genuinely go above and beyond to make you feel like part of the community. It’s not just a place to grab a quick bite — it’s a spot that makes you feel good inside and out.
