Imagine walking through a door and stepping back in time to 2019… that’s exactly how we felt walking into Soup ‘n Fresh tonight! If you ever ate at Souplantation ( one of many too many Covid casualties), then you’ll feel the same If it’s not the same group as before, then they must have bought the full playbook from them, recipes and all. Overall, flavors seem a little brighter than before, and I haven’t seen anyone walking around passing out chocolate chip cookies yet, but other than that, a very happy memory has returned. Tonight we came with our daughter from Austin to celebrate the birthday of our son Anton, who was taken in the Iraq war. Souplantation was one of his very favorite places to go, so tonight we got to enjoy many happy memories

My Visit to Soup ’N Fresh — Rancho Cucamonga
I recently stopped by Soup ’N Fresh in Rancho Cucamonga and left genuinely impressed. Here’s a breakdown of what stood out:
The Food
I started with a bowl of the mushroom soup — rich, velvety and full of umami flavor; it felt handcrafted, not just canned. According to their menu, this is one of their featured soups.
I also tried a bit of their pasta station offering — good portion size, al dente, and paired well with the freshly baked bread they had out.
The salad bar was a highlight: crisp greens, a great variety of toppings (olives, roasted sunflower seeds, cheeses) and built-for‐you freshness.
Don’t miss the baked goods: I sampled the blueberry muffin fresh from the bakery section — warm, slightly sweet, and a perfect “dessert” after the savory fare. It’s listed as a featured product on the menu.
The Environment
The dining room feels casual but well-kept — plenty of seating, bright but comfortable lighting, and you immediately get a cozy “homemade meal” vibe when you smell the soups simmering as you walk in.
✅ Why I’d Recommend It & Go Back
Good variety: Soups, salads, bakery items — something for everyone (including kids and families).
Freshness: The kitchen seems to prioritize using fresh ingredients, rotating soups and offering build-your-own salads.
Value: You walk away feeling full and satisfied, which for the area was a win.
Ambience: The setting is relaxed and friendly — perfect for a casual outing.
Tip for Your Visit
Go a little before peak (lunch rush) if you can — I noticed a short line building up. Grab a bowl of soup early, then head to the salad bar while waiting. And save room for one of their muffins or bakery treats!

Tried this place earlier in the year to make sure the comparison to the old Soup Plantation was accurate … and it didn’t disappoint. Definitely brought back the memories and nostalgia. Had to share that with my 2 other boys who have been out of state for college. It brought back the tastes and memories from childhood for them as well. Salad Bar selection is similar. We had the classic Clam Chowder. Cream of Mushroon, and Chili selections in the soup section. One thing they do have that the old Soup Plantation did not are local/ethnic soup selections. Today they had Posole- I added chopped onions, green onions, and radish- it blended well with the tender pork chunks and hominy, and flavorful broth. They had Abondigas the last time we went. Blueberry Muffin and Corn Bread with Honey Butter highlighted the Bakery section. And of coarse brownie or chocolate muffin with soft serve on top for Dessert. Those who miss the old Soup Plantation should give this a try. Only downside for us was the wait – about an hour in line. Had to push thru since the boys only had a limited time home before they flew back to school. Was worth it for us tho since the boys have been wanting to relive one of their favorite places to eat since they were kids. Soup ‘n Fresh definitely did that for us.

If you’re in Rancho Cucamonga and craving variety, Soup ‘n Fresh is a hidden gem that delivers. The salad bar is incredibly impressive, offering an abundance of fresh toppings—everything from crisp cucumbers to roasted sunflower seeds, olives, cheeses, and more. You can customize your salad exactly how you like it. Beyond that, they offer a generous selection of soups—hearty, flavorful, and always hot. The baked potatoes are fluffy and warm, perfect with a scoop of sour cream or cheese. The mac & cheese and spaghetti are comforting and tasty, especially for families with kids. Don’t miss the dessert section—soft-serve ice cream and other sweets cap off the meal perfectly. The place is clean, the service is friendly, and the choices are unmatched for a buffet-style dining experience. It’s a perfect spot for a casual, satisfying meal that leaves you feeling both full and happy.

Very filling for a salad buffet. The salads are of high quality, with a wide range of selections. The soups are also delicious, especially the mushroom soup and Korean beef bone soup.

First time at Soup n Fresh and I was pleased with the choice you get! Was a bit chaotic inside but the food was good. Salad and baked potato were great and fresh, so was the pizza and Alfredo pasta. Soup was ok and I should have tried another kind but I was too full. I was expecting more fruit choice but the pineapple I had was so sweet it did the job. Finally, I was very happy to see that ALL soft serve flavors were dairy free, a paradise for vegetarian/lactose intolerant people! Will definitely go back.

So let me break it down for ya: if you didnt know this is an exact replica of Souplantation (RIP). The waiting line can be a hit or miss depending on the day and time but we got in and made it on time for lunch. One thing to note: the trays and big plates are only located in the front. This makes it quite tedious to get salad again since it is all you can eat.
However, SALADS GALORE!! From making your own to pre-made, the salads are a MUST! I always opt for the drink cup so I can get an Arnold Palmer. The soups are always fresh at this location and today the pozole and Korean bone broth was amazing!! Dont forget the fixens of cilantro, onion and tapatio with lemon. Not to mention the sweet potatoes Then for desert you have to get the blueberry muffins and the buttermilk cornbread with the honey butter!! There’s also soft serve (if youre into that). Got the pineapple with grapes and they actually have Tajin on deck y’all!! I will say, I wish they had more of a selection with their fruit like watermelon and/or mango. Now I will add that although their soups are delicious, they should switch it up or at least bring back the tomato soup (a favorite back at Souplantation). All in all, you definitely get the bang for your buck!! Come hungry and ready!!

Went on a weekday at lunch time. Pretty busy, got help finding a table. Salad bar options were excellent. Everything fresh and staff maintained presentation as guests moved through the items. The mushroom soup was very creamy with large slices of mushroom. Chicken noodle soup had large pieces of pulled chicken. Staff was very helpful and attentive, customer focused. We will return and try other items offered.
